My grandfather (born 1931) told me his opinion about The Orchard Keeper

This was around twenty years ago. My father, an overwhelmingly positive guy who was a hippie in his youth, started reading Cormac books after I recommended them to him. I was SHOCKED that he loved them since they tend to be overwhelmingly bleak.

He gave a copy of The Orchard Keeper to his father. This man was pre-Navy SEALS special forces, served in Korea, became an officer then retired and worked as an electrical engineer for AT&T.

He read the book and his review was just:

“The Depression wasn’t THAT depressing.”

Always thought that was hilarious. Thought some people here might get a kick out of it, too.

Do you think Landa recognized Shosanna when they were in the restaurant?

I have a feeling he did. There were moments like him ordering milk for her and later, sternly saying he had something else to ask then laughing and says he’s forgotten.

I assume that he was having fun taunting and scaring her but let her go.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: from the comments, people saw it both ways. I’d credit that to Tarantino’s gift as a writer. He created an intentionally ambiguous scene that made the viewer think one way or the other… or both! 🤣🤣🤣

[TOMT] Please help me find a scene in a WC Fields movie

I was talking with my father and he told me he loves a movie scene where WC Fields is walking outside, puts his hat on his cane then can’t find them.

I tried searching google but can’t seem to find it. It’s more than likely that my Google-fu skills are just really poor. I’d really appreciate it if someone can tell me what that’s from. Thank you very much.

What powers can the One Ring provide to those other than Sauron?

I’ve never read the books but from the movies I can only remember those who wear it becoming invisible. I think it also gives unnaturally long life to whoever possesses it. Is there anything else that it can do? For that matter, what all can it do for its “true wielder”, Sauron?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but, just like Bilbo, I’ve been at the gaffer’s brew. 🤣🤣🤣
