Hey everyone,

I'm an incoming international CS student at Texas State this fall. I've seen a lot of people online call it a "party school," and honestly I'm not into that party stuff at all ( even tho I love to hang out wiht my friends) . My main focus is academics, building projects, getting internships, and making the most of my time there.

Is the party reputation kind of overblown these days? Is it pretty easy to find people who are focused on school? I'm also a little worried about the QS and U.S News rankings. I know they aren't everything, but do you feel like Texas State gives motivated CS students good opportunities, or has the ranking ever held you back?

I'd love to hear from current students or alumni. Thanks!

Hey guys, so I am international incoming freshman Fall 2026 and I am CS major. I can not register for classes since I have an academic advising hold on my account. Anyone has the same issue w me? Or is there anyone wh ocan help me out w this? I'm just worried that the classes I want to take will be full by the time I'm able to register.

I'm an incoming international student and I'll be starting Computer Science at Texas State this fall. I've been reading a lot about the university, but I'd love to hear from people who are actually in the program or have graduated from it.

How's the CS program overall? Are the professors good? Do you feel like the classes actually prepare you for internships and software engineering jobs? Also, are there any professors or electives you'd recommend?

One thing that's been on my mind is Texas State's "party school" reputation. I know every college has parties, but I'm mainly coming here for a good education and want to surround myself with people who are serious about CS. Does that reputation actually reflect what the CS department is like, or is it mostly exaggerated?
