Hard of hearing intern

I am hard of hearing resident. I wear hearing aids. My program knows i wear hearing aids and need people to talk clearly and straight at me. But, i am shy to remind my seniors and attendings this everytime. They talk while walking or facing to the computer making my job thousand times harder. Intern year is already incredibly harder without this. I try to be the hardest worker in a team, but when I make them repeat things I feel like they think I am stupid. I’d love to know if you are or have seen hard of hearing residents in your program and some advice on how to be able to perform better!

Jabra enhance pro vs phonac or the best tech available right now

I’m 33 years old and hard of hearing, and I’m about to start working in a hospital where understanding speech is going to be very important. I’ve been advised to get a cochlear implant eventually, but I want to wait for now.

At the moment, I’m using Jabra Enhance Pro hearing aids from Costco, but I still miss a lot of speech. Costco told me that switching to closed domes might help a little.

Recently, I learned about the Phonak Infinio 90 and was wondering if they would be a better option for speech clarity, especially in noisy environments like a hospital. I am kind of in the fence whether to return my jabra and get them.

Has anyone switched from Jabra Enhance Pro to Phonak Infinio or Sphere Infinio? Was there a noticeable improvement in speech understanding and background noise filtering?

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks!
