FIVB/USAV Rules and Case for this Reaching Beyond the Net fault by backrow setter
Does anyone have referenced rules/cases in both FIVB and USAV for this fault?
When a back-row setter is going up to play the ball at or near the net, what are the potential faults that the R1 should be on the lookout for?
Edit to add screenshot description: this is the VNL 2026 week 2 match between USA and Japan, set #3, when the score was 22 - 17.
USA was given the point, but Japan challenged that the ball contact by the setter (Christensen) was improper citing the reaching beyond the net fault. Japan's challenge was successful.
