TTS to WiiM Amp?

Anyone able to do this?

I can’t get it to work.

Tried main Wiim integration and HACS one.

Set up https to http nginx proxy since I thought it was from self signed certificates

Http url HA sends to Wiim to play which I can see in Wiim app on my iPhone is valid and if I copy and paste in local browser it plays audio. Nothing plays on the Wiim amp.

I even tried changing to router DNS on Wiim amp since my host name is raspberrypi.local but no dice. Any other thoughts?

WGen11500Tfc Do I need to clean oil filter?

When trying to figure out what oil to use for my WGen11500Tfc, I've come across some posts that it seems to have a washable oil filter.

I've done all the maintenance steps in the manual and cleaning the oil filter is NOT one of them nor listed in the others.

Do I need to remove it and wash it? How often? With what? If I do need to do this, do I need to watch for any pitfalls like gaskets that come apart and need to be replaced (thinking of you - valve cover)?

Thanks!!!

WiiM App with WiiM Amp on Separate VLAN

Just wanted to share in case anyone else has a WiiM Amp running on separate VLAN (IoT) from device running WiiM app.

WiiM app would NOT let me manage the WiiM Amp on separate VLAN complaining it was on “separate network.” AirPlay and direct HTTP connection worked fine.

Finally figured out this change in mDNS (Multicast DNS) adding the extra service shown in the photo, immediately solved the issue.

Hope this helps someone as I was ready to tear hair out!

WGen11500Tfc Regular vs Synthetic Oil?

ADDED: So I literally have never changed the oil in my car myself to give you an example of my background and knowledge. Everything I’ve learned is with this generator.

For synthetic options Google says:

Top-Rated Synthetic 10W-30 Options
AMSOIL 10W-30 Synthetic Small Engine Oil: Excellent commercial-grade oil designed specifically for the punishing demands of air-cooled engines and extended oil changes.
VP Racing Full-Synthetic SAE 30/10W-30: Dual-grade rated and known for high film strength and reducing oil consumption in generators and outdoor power equipment.
Mobil 1 10W-30 Full Synthetic: A widely available, high-performance option that provides superior thermal stability and easier starting in cold weather. [1, 2, 3]

Is one of these good? A different brand? Sounds like better to get synthetic than my Honda SAE10w-30 long term.

I literally don’t have any oil “laying around” since don’t change car oil myself (and honestly oil changes are my absolute least favorite part of running the generator as oil is just so messy and corrosive - plus stains like crazy).

Thanks!!!

I’ve had my Westinghouse WGen11500Tfc for >1 year now, run only on natural gas ever, and run about 1 hour every month or two. So technically I have passed the five hours of runtime required for the break in period?

I’m still using Honda SAE 10W-30 oil. Do I need to switch to synthetic? If so, what is the advantage and what type should I buy?

Thanks!!!

EDITED TO ADD: We live in the Gulf Coast where it is HOT and HUMID in case it matters re type of oil to use.

I was checking the valve clearances as per the manual.

When I took off the valve cover, the gasket seemed to have some small tears (photos attached). Does it need to be replaced?

If the valve cover gasket needs to be replaced, anything specific besides just buying a new one and sticking it on the valve cover after removing old gasket? It seems to be attached to the valve cover itself, whereas the photo in the manual shows the valve cover gasket as a completely separate component from the valve cover. Do I need some kind of glue to glue if onto the valve cover first? If so, which one? Thanks! I’m a complete noob at this

Unfortunately only one in focus photo (magnified) I could take was of a dead/squished one. Live one has six legs and two antennae. Crawled quite aggressively away from a magnifying light. Haven’t seen it fly. We are in gulf coast USA (hot humid) and these are inside our house in random places.

Thanks!!!

My wgen11500tfc is a year old, run for about an hour every 1-2 months on natural gas only.

I’ve done all the other maintenance steps in the manual now but this seems confusing to me and even if one of the angles is wrong I don’t know how easy it will be to fix it. Generator lives in a fairly tight space (zombiebox). Haven’t had any problems so far with my runs to date.

Is this absolutely essential to do asap?

Thanks!!!
