there’s too many players at the table, and my DM wants to invite more

if you’re my DM i’m so sorry, i just want to get this out

so the group i’m in plays DND regularly on saturdays, usually at a local gaming store. my DM runs the beginner table there, so he takes in all kinds of beginners or people new to DND in general. his table was how i learned to play, and i’m having a lot of fun with the group

however, since he does take all beginners, the group has been increasing in number slowly. i think at the beginning it was 6? now, at the last session, there was 10 people. it was so overwhelming that i left mid-session and four other people weren’t able to play much

we have a discord group, and i messaged our DM about it. i asked him if he could maybe think about splitting it into two tables or finding another DM for another beginners’ table. but he told me he wants to try out a new system where (hopefully) a 10 person party will work out. it’s a hex exploration / westmarches type system where we’ll have quests posted on the discord and we’ll all vote for what to do next session. so in a way, we’ll already know what we’ll be doing and there won’t be so much discussion about next steps at the session

i’m still wary about it though, i feel like it’s still going to be overwhelming. i have autism and i don’t work well in such big groups, small groups like we had before were perfect for me. i’m going to try out the new system, but i’m just nervous

this morning, someone new posted in our discord server, asking if there was room for another player at the beginners’ table. our DM said “yeah there should be room”

there was 10 people at the last session?? what do you mean there should be room??? i know there’s a chance not everyone’s going to show up. but still

am i overreacting? am i just not good enough socially? there are other tables i can join, i’m not stuck to this group. but i’m just disappointed (maybe) with how it is now

why does he do this after every feeding??

every time after i feed him at night, he likes to get out of his hole in the corner and hop around the tank for a bit. he’ll climb on top of the fake plants or even slam into the tank wall sometimes. i’ll put him back into his hole and then he chills out. is he just being a silly frog or what is he doing

frog hasn’t pooped in a month, is he okay?

my frog Burger has recently come out of brumation a month ago, since then i’ve given him dubias, hornworms, shrimp, and tilapia. i’ve noticed he hasn’t pooped since he came out though, and when i feel his sides, i don’t feel anything hard. i’ve heard that i can try giving them a honey bath, but also that it doesn’t help as much as people say it does? he’s not in a bioactive enclosure, but there is a good population of springtails in the dirt (and one rogue isopod). is he alright or should i encourage him to poop?

where do pacman frogs get calcium in the wild?

sorry if this is a stupid question but it’s been on my mind for a while now lol. in captivity they get it mainly when we dust their food with calcium, but where do they get that calcium in the wild? do they just have a completely different diet where they don’t need extra calcium? what are the rates of MBD like in wild pacmans?

hornworm too big for frog, what to do??

i bought some hornworms for my frog last week and he’s only eaten 2 / 4 of them yesterday. one of them is getting pretty big and i tried giving it to him today, but he didn’t want it. i know they grow fast, but i didn’t think they’d grow this fast lol. what do i do with it? it’s about 3 and a half inches long and my frog is only about 4 inches. i’m worried that if i wait a few days, it’ll be too big for him

i’ve heard i can cut them up, but they’ll kinda explode since they’re mostly water? and i’d hate to cut it up while it’s still alive

first time feeding hornworms to my boy and i have a few stupid questions

i bought one of those small cups of hornworms from petsmart and i’ve let them grow for a few days. Burger has never had any before and i’m wondering:

  1. do i need to put calcium powder on them? i’ve heard some bugs don’t need calcium, are hornworms one of them?

  2. do i need to cut the horn off? or crush the head?

  3. what do i do if he doesn’t like them? i have no one to sell them to, i don’t think i can release them outside either

feeder dubias not getting any bigger?

i have a few dubia roaches that i’ve been keeping for my pacman frog. i got them when they were very small and i’ve had them for six months i think (since my frog was brumating and he wasn’t eating). most of them have grown up to 1.5 inches long, but two of them have stayed at 3/4 inches

i fed the big ones to my frog when he came out of brumation, but he doesn’t want the small ones. i’m just wondering why they didn’t grow as much as the others? i keep them all in the same container at room temperature (74 F) with the same food (carrots) and calcium water jellies. they’ve been molting but not really growing in size. idk much about roaches so i want to ask you guys what’s going on

my frog Burger has been buried since October. i’ve insulated his tank and his humidity is kept around 80% or 60% most of the time, but he still hasn’t come up. the warm side of his tank gets up to mid 80s (Fahrenheit) and the cool side to 73. i’ve tried digging him up to feed him, but he’s never interested and just goes back underground. recently he’s been croaking every few days. is this a good sign? is there anything i can do to make him come out? i’m worried about him

i’m a new player and most of my party members are also pretty new to D&D. i played a lot of BG3 before trying out D&D so i kinda get how combat works but still learning the differences lol

i want to stay as more of a support than actually fighting, so i picked cleric and made a shadar-kai life cleric character. but i’ve read that life domain is pretty useless (or at least outclassed) by the other cleric domains? and i feel like my party doesn’t really need a very strong healer since we have 2 paladins. however they don’t really use lay on hands that much, and they more so focus on killing the enemies

for context, we’re doing a homebrew campaign, and our party is at level 6 and consists of 7 party members (paladin, paladin, rogue, sorcerer, fighter, ranger, cleric). i’ve noticed our dm does target the sorcerer more, so i have healed him plenty of times. but i’m wondering if i should switch to death domain instead (since i have read that the raven queen is a deity for both the life and death domains but idk if i want to stick that close to the lore)

i have a lot of anxiety and i always wonder if i’m a good part of the team. should i change my subclass or make a new character altogether?

(sorry if i haven’t explained enough, it’s 3 am and i’m very tired)
