If you could build a point guard for this roster, what would they be like?

I don’t think I need to rehash the whole guard situation for this roster but the simple version is Jerome is gonna be 30 soon and nobody else has shown starter potential/execution to set themselves in stone for the future. Not saying a guy on the roster cant develop into that, but we haven’t seen it yet.

So if you could fill that hole with our roster in mind, what is the playstyle, physical tools, premium ability, etc would you want to see from a point guard for this roster?

Battle of the mushroom heads

As we all know, each nba team is contractually obligated to have exactly one (1) player on roster with the mushroom head hair style. If you have two (2) or more players with this hairdo on roster for more than one calendar year, the team faces harsh penalties such as signing Gary Trent Jr to a 64 million, 4 year deal. Who should Klieman move, and why?

I’ve seen a lot of talk about moving off Santi. Sell it to me.

There’s been a lot of talk about roster changes recently, duh, but the thing I see the most that I don’t get is people saying we should trade Aldama. The main argument seems to be that he’s a dollar short, a day late in that he’s an interesting bench piece from the previous era who doesn’t fit the timeline but… he’s only 25. Same age as beef stew, a year older than Edey. He’s only gotten better every year, his spacing off the bench is valuable and his interior defensive issues should be at least partially offset by having Stewart or Edey behind him 90% of the time.

I guess I just don’t see why he doesn’t fit the identity when he played great ball in the Iisalo system last year and finally has complimentary front court mates. Unless T henny or gg come out the gates playing some very inspired basketball next season, Santi should be the man backing up Boozer in my opinion. What do you guys think?

How does Cowards role shift with Boozer?

One of the biggest strengths of Cameron Boozer is his passing and playmaking upside at his size. It would make sense that because of his special talents, Boozer can play a secondary creator/facilitator role. This is where Ced comes in, as the biggest hole in his game is creating his own shot and playmaking. He even said that self creation and playmaking was going to be a focus of his offseason.

While I think that it can’t hurt to have three players on the court who can play the on ball role, I also wonder if having Boozer makes it so that Coward shifts his priorities from his on ball game to trying to maximize his usefulness between a true lead guard and an already polished playmaker in Boozer.

For a moment I thought that Iislao’s system being as egalitarian as it is would lead to not necessarily needing a go to secondary play initiator, but if anything, I think it prioritizes having as many players as possible being a threat with the ball in their hands because the system depends so much on the strength of the collective instead of playing through a superstar.

Either way, I’m excited to see this collection of guys play basketball together soon! There is a real synergy between our players and I can’t wait for the upcoming season to start. Go grizz‼️‼️

Who would get their jersey retired from the next gen era?

For this hypothetical, I’m imagining Ja does not give us meaningful production/does not have a comeback in Memphis. We are just looking at what the team has given us, not what Ja could hypothetically do. Me personally, I’m putting 46 in the rafters. (Jitty come home💔)

Where does Zach Edey rank in the current nba hot dog eating contest?

Jokic, Zion, and Embiid are the top 3 hot dog eaters to me. Physically gifted eaters all in their own right. Mitchell Robinson, AD, Edey, and Steve Adams are all in that second tier to me, with AD having to play himself into shape yearly giving him an argument for that top shelf level of production. I think guys with the physical tools but are too soft include Clingan, Nurkic, Hansen Yang, Ayton, and a past his prime Brook Lopez. Harden and Luka make for good dark horse eaters but I don’t think they have the physical capacity to go dog for dog with the bigs of the association. Wemby’s competitive spirit is neutered by the health freak in him and I expect a dnp from the alien.

Zach Edey can go no lower than 10 to me and I’d say he’s right in that #5 convo behind AD. What do you think?
