What the Suns are doing is actually Brilliant
The Suns are quietly pulling off a fascinating experiment by creating two distinct windows simultaneously:
- Window 1: The Booker Era (Ages 27-30) — The veteran core in their absolute physical primes, built to contend for a playoff push. (Book, Brooks, Bridges, Gillespie, Goodwin, Highsmith, Kennard)
- Window 2: The Post-Booker Future (Ages 19-25) — A young, high-upside group being groomed to either take the reins later or serve as valuable, cost-controlled assets. (Green, Williams, Maluach, Oso, Fleming, Dunn, Peat, Brea)
By structuring the roster to be half 27-30 year olds and half 19-25 year olds, they’ve maximized Devin Booker's current window while secretly building the post-Booker era right under our noses.

Suns Spotlight: Oso Ighodaro's defensive versatility and selfless impact
nba.comWe know Ott loves Oso. But his size was relentlessly overexposed. However, as a PF, Oso goes from being a liability to an asset - especially if he's paired alongside Maluach at center.
Oso/Khaman is the budget version of Hartlestein/Holmgren. And if Man Man can continue to develop his 3, the lane won't get clogged. (Of course we're all hoping Oso can develop a shot.) Starting both provides switchability, length, size, rebounding, rim-protection, and allows for the the trio of Book, Brooks, and Green to play off ball.
A Khaman/Oso frontcourt would move Mark Williams to the bench for workload management /injury prevention and create a nasty defensive second unit with Fleming, Dunn/Highsmith, Goodwin, and Gillespie.
