Camping near bay area/santa cruz in November

Hi! Just wanted some input/advice from those who are more experienced with camping. We’re hoping to camp early to mid-November and I’m not sure where to start when it comes to choosing a campground.

We’ll have two toddlers with us, so that’s definitely something to keep in mind. We’re looking to do traditional tent camping, not hike-in. Some in our group want to try beach camping, but I’m afraid it might be too cold for the todds next to the ocean. I’m not too afraid of rain (i think) as long as we plan and pack correctly, but I’d love insight on what conditions are actually like while camping.

We’ve all camped before, just never alone, we’ve always gone with experienced campers. This will be our first year on our own, and we’ll definitely do a test run with our equipment beforehand.

If anyone has campground/site recommendations, especially ones that are easy for first-timers or good with kids, I’d really appreciate it! I’ll take any and all advice!!

for context she is 17, almost, 18 months. i have brought her speech up at multiple wellness checks & have been told to just wait it out. at 12 months our pediatrician told us signs don’t necessarily count as words. we switched to another by 15 months & she told us signs DO count. she also said there is usually a huge language explosion around 18 months, so to also wait it out. i do want to push for a speech referral at our 18 month but should i push for an evaluation as well?

my concerns/things i have noticed: • she’s not talking and doesn’t really try to • she hums a lot, especially while eating. (she’s done this since starting solids) • she doesn’t pay attention to danger/realize there is a big step down on the playground and will just continue to walk right off. she does this with curbs as well • she babbles sometimes but it doesn’t sound like toddler conversational.. it sounds like 9-10 month old babbles and are at random. • lately she’s been looking for oral stimulation a lot. her entire hand has been in her mouth, but is refusing to brush her teeth. (she has a full mouth of teeth— so i don’t think she’s teething? it’s a fight to get in her mouth now) • she rubs her face into us a lot or she’ll yank us in for a hug (in a love aggression type way) • she does respond to her name but i can’t tell if she has selective hearing/doesnt gaf sometimes or she is regressing…

things she can do: • knows lots of sign language and uses it in correct context • receptive language seems to be great. • can follow simple directions • she gestures pretty well — hi, blow kiss, knuckles, uses gestures to requests songs • she points to things she wants/needs • she’s starting to hand lead and point to what she needs • scribbles with crayons • uses a fork but refuses a spoon • she knows body parts & what items are for (cup, phone, etc.)
