My sister has a court summons for driving under the influence in Jersey. Please help

We’re going to speak to a lawyer ASAP. She was drunk I don’t know what her BAC level was I’m freaking the fuck out, she has issues with alcohol and ive been trying to get her to stop but whatever. She said they stopped her while she was backing out of a parking lot, put her in handcuffs took her to the station made her take a breathalizer test and walk around then my cousin came to pick her up and they told her she can get the car from a tow zone tomorrow. The car is under my mom’s name so she has to call to provide permission for my sister to get it.

My parents are really good people and they’re super religious, if they find out my sister was drinking it might give my dad a heart attack and that’s what I’m concerned about. She’s on their car insurance too so I don’t even fucking know how we can do this without them finding out. She’s 26 she lives with them in nyc but was staying at my cousin’s in Jersey. It’s still early so I’m going to call my aunt in the morning to find a lawyer in Jersey but yeah. I’m terrified for my parents I’m so angry and disappointed of my sister, it’s been nonstop fights about her drinking for months now. If it wasn’t for my parents I would feel relieved this happened so that she can learn her lesson but I don’t want this on her record. We have a lot of family in Canada so what does this mean she won’t be able to go to Canada for 10 years? Is there any chance this gets waived away and she’s given probation? What if she has proof of giving up her car and not driving anymore will they still make her put an interlock in the car? My parents will definitely realize if there’s a whole fucking breathalizer machine in the car. Omg I’m losing it I just want to hear if there are stories where things end up okay in this situation. My cousin almost died last week and my family is already in shambles right now I don’t know how much more I can take

Update on cousin attack in Canada

Today my cousin passed by the apartment complex and saw that the dog was sitting barking at the window. THEY DID NOT PUT HIM DOWN

I am livid right now. The cops said there was nothing they can do because the SPCA deemed the dog safe. WHAT THE HELL HOW CAN A DOG THAT RIPPED A CHEEK OFF A FACE BE DEEMED SAFE?

We’re reaching out to news outlets and have gotten some responses so just hoping that some awareness will help us bring that dog down and potentially save someone else from the same trauma.

My cousin was brutally attacked by a pitbull in Canada, need some advice

As the title says, my cousin was attacked by a pitbull on Thursday last week. He’s 24 years old, had just graduated college the week before and was at work. He’s worked two part time jobs all through college (hes an international student from Morocco so costs are high) and he was working his real estate job where he had to go check an apartment and was attacked by the dog. The apartment itself has a rule that pets can’t be over 100 pounds and this fucking animal was 125 pounds.

Anyways this has been super traumatizing for him and for our family. His mom passed away almost exactly a year ago and he has just been pushing through to get his engineering degree done and to find a job. I’m so sad for him and I’m sad for his older sister, my cousin. She’s had a really hard time with the passing of her mom, she had met her brother for lunch because she was in one of her sad moments about it all, her brother reassured her and hugged her and promised her everything was going to be okay and then called her 10 minutes after saying bye to say “I’m really sorry to bother you can you come back please I got attacked by a pitbull” and she came back and found him covered with blood, his cheek and ear falling off. He had to get almost 200 stitches and he just got out of the hospital but he has horrible scars all over his face his ear his arm. It’s just terrible; he was supposed to finally get a summer break to go back home after years of not being able to and now he has to stay and to heal. I’m so sad for him :(

I guess just coming here for a bit of moral support. It’s going to be an expensive journey for the reconstructive surgeries he has coming his way, we’ve started a gofundme and the whole family is trying to pitch in because we don’t want him to be permanently disfigured. He’s the kind of kid that would say it’s fine I don’t want to be a nuisance but no kids deserves this kind of life? I’ve always been frightened by pitbulls but never in my life did I think something like this would happen in our family.

We’re focusing on his healing now, and then we’ll start trying to find lawyers to see what we can do here but I’m not even sure who he could file against. He was checking an appt with a coworker, and the coworker was supposed to email the appt renter that they were coming but he forgot to send the email. The owner of the dog tried to avoid the cops, my cousin said he was giving crackhead energy when she approached him like very jumpy and scatterbrained and she forced him to go see the cops. The dog has been euthanized but it doesn’t feel nearly enough for the damage caused. I’m just sad
