It's HORSE but in the Cosmere RPG

It's HORSE but in the Cosmere RPG

Inspiration comes to you at weird times. I was listening to an episode of the podcast called Wonderful where Griffin McElroy was describing his love for the basketball game HORSE.

It got me thinking thinking of a way to bring the rules of HORSE in to the Cosmere RPG.

A few hours later and I made this: https://www.investedinthecosmere.com/resources/p/ghost, a little rules expansion for the Cosmere RPG where you pin your player characters against each other in successive skill tests to see who is the most... skillful? Lucky? You decide.

I themed it as a game that Ghostblood Agents would play with new initiates to show of their skill and demonstrate their capabilities.

Each round of the game plays out like this:

  • A contestant chooses a skill, then rolls that test with all their relevant modifiers.
  • All other contestants then roll that same test, adding their own modifiers, and look to either meet or beat the roll of the first player.
  • Those who do are safe, those who fail take on a letter.
  • You're out when you've collected all five letters of GHOST.

I also added a little extra ruleset that brings in the plot dice and adds some last minute heroics to those contestants who are on their last letter.

The download is free, and includes a very basic dueling arena map you can use for whatever you want!

I made 5 maps for the Mistborn setting

In preparation for the Mistborn setting dropping on September 2nd I made 5 maps set in Era 1 Scadrial - feel free to use them in your next campaign or homebrew. I also put an article where I wrote a bit about each map and what you kind of scenarios you might run in them.

The Cosmere RPG Epic at Nexus 2025

It took me WAY too long to put the footage together, but this is the story of the Cosmere RPG Nexus that played out at Dragonsteel Nexus 2025.

In case you missed it, last year We Geek Together put on a massive 400 player Cosmere RPG campaign set in one of the desolations of Roshar's distant past. The stakes? The outcome of the campaign would become canon for the Stormlight Archive; our successes and failures living on.

As mentioned in the recent Brotherwise update from Gen Con, this campaign will soon be released in a standard campaign format, that is, unless you have another 400 friends ready to go.

Its time for some wild speculation about the new Stormlight campaign

I feel like the fact that we're getting a new Stormlight campaign is wildly underdiscussed. I am still reeling from the news, so I put my thoughts together in a video.

Stormlight 2, a sequel to Stonewalkers, confirmed on Kickstarter

In the latest kickstarter update, Brotherwise confirmed that there is a sequel to Stonewalkers in the mix and they are beginning playtesting.

It will have a military theme, at least be in tier 3, and have a hardcover release.

I am putting together a video with my thoughts and will hopefully have something up today, but check out the post for more details.

Helping your Edgedancer swear their ideals

Back at it again with Making Radiants - this time with Edgedancers: https://www.investedinthecosmere.com/resources/p/making-radiants-edgedancer

In this scenario your party will be invited to a lavish party at a lord's manor, only to find out that the staff is being poorly treated. How will your Edgedancer react?

These scenarios are designed to give your budding Radiant player characters an opportunity to roleplay in scenarios that could tee up swearing the first or second ideal.

Helping your Dustbringer swear their ideals

Hey all - I've started working on a revamp of a series I started prior to the official release of the Stormlight setting: Making Radiants. The original series featured a scenario for each order of Knight Radiant themed to their unique set of ideals, giving prospective members of that Order a roleplaying opportunity to live out and swear one of the early ideals of their order.

The challenge back then was we didn't have the full ruleset, or all clearly communicated lore surrounding each order as we do now.

I've started plugging away at revamping these scenes as short one shot side quests, but refreshed with the full ruleset in mind, new art and maps, and PDF guides. Once the full series is complete I will assemble the entire collection in to a single omnibus for easier downloading and use in-game.

Up first is the Dustbringer adventure - a quick little adventure that will challenge your potential Dustbringer to master themselves in a destructive situation. You can download that for free here: https://www.investedinthecosmere.com/resources/p/making-radiants-dustbringer

Let me know what you think! Which order should I do next?

My guide to playing a Singer

It's been awhile. This one took me considerably longer than I anticipated, but I've finally finished my guide to playing a Singer in the Stormlight setting.

In the video I go over:

  • What you need to know when building your first singer character
  • Everything you need to know about forms of power
  • Notes on the essential lore for the Singers, and where to get more details
  • Tips for players and game masters roleplaying as Singers
  • and finally, a full walkthrough of a level 1 - 8 singer agent build.

Let me know what you think!
