Plant and observation site

Hey guys, I built MyFloralVault for anyone interested in plants. There are a bunch of features built in. An apothecary, plant identifier, community observations as well (like iNat), care reminders, a marketplace and a full social network to share findings or just to post a status of how your garden is coming along, with the community. And of course, custom plant entries and albums that you can share with the wider community or mark as private for your own private notes. It's also not limited to just plants. Upload a picture of any plant, mineral, animal, compound, anything, & add it to your albums with any description you want. Your own personal collection app.

There are other plant collection sites but I felt they didn't have the customization, or social experience I was looking for. You couldn't discover anyone else's collections of plants or sometimes the ui was either outdated or too complex for people who aren't really into plants that much, to be able to find what other's are sharing.

The app is live on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). The web version is at myfloralvault.com.

Completely built by me over the last two years.

If you use this site or app, let me know any features that you would like to see added. I would really appreciate your support, thank you.

My wife became obsessed with plants and herbalism. So I built a social network/collection site for plant people. Six months later, it has an AI apothecary, a marketplace, and community observations, mapping plants worldwide

It started because she would see plants on fb marketplace from random people, plants we never heard of before, like giloy, ajwain, vasa, etc. She grew up having to be worried about other's health, after her mom had kidney failure. She wanted to learn as much as possible to give everyone in her life the most healthiest foods she could find. It started with a soursop tree and grew from there. Later she started writing down the longest list of plants, mushrooms, etc, and all of their medicinal compounds and uses. All on her notes app. Sharing updates with our friends and family, instead of having a real site of the whole collection they could put a picture to. So I made her one.

I built MyFloralVault for all plant people. There is a plant identifier built in so you can save whatever plant you took a pic of and add it to your collection, get care reminders. Or upload a picture of any plant, mineral, animal, compound, anything, & add it to your albums with any description you want. Your own personal collection app.

There are other plant collection sites, like gardenia, but it didn't have the customization, or social experience. You couldn't discover anyone else's collections of plants. Then there's iNaturalist, the only issue for me was the ui was outdated and complex for people who aren't really into plants that much, to be able to find what other's are sharing. Plus, you aren't really getting a real collection site there.

So I made the app into an all in one. You can make as many albums as you want and upload as much as you want. You can have an extremely well organized digital collection to reflect your current or future collection.

There's a marketplace. Buy and sell plants, cuttings, seeds, you name it. Auctions, seller ratings, the whole thing. No more sketching out on random fb marketplace sellers with no accountability.

We have a community observations section with a 2D globe map, identification voting, and geoprivacy.

There is an AI apothecary with a RAG search engine that pulls from a database of 235+ remedies, tells you specific compounds, nutrient content, traditional uses, herb interactions, and safety warnings. Updating it's database with every new herb added, anything to help heal a loved one.

The app is live on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). The web version is at myfloralvault.com.

The stack for anyone curious: Next.js frontend, Express/Prisma/PostgreSQL backend, React Native/Expo mobile, Socket.IO for real-time messaging, Cloudinary for media, Stripe for payments, OpenAI for the apothecary AI. All built by me over the last two years.

If you use this site, let me know any feedback with how I can make some updates that you would like to see.

I built MyFloralVault for all plant people. Point your camera at a plant, AI tells you what it is, save it to your collection, get care reminders. Done. Or upload a picture of any plant or even compound, add it to an album with any description you want. Your own personal collection app.

Then it grew. There are other plant collection sites, like gardenia, but it didn't have the customization, or social experience. You couldn't discover anyone else's collections of rare plants. Then there's Inaturalist, the only issue for me was the ui was outdated and complex for people who aren't really into plants that much, to be able to find what other's are sharing. Plus, you aren't really getting a real collection site there.

Would love feedback on what's missing or what would make you actually use something like this, to grow into a bustling community. I'm shipping updates almost daily.
