Most unrealistic thing?

What do you all find most unrealistic about The Golden Girls?

For me, it’s the endless visits from random people out of the women’s pasts. Dorothy had a visit from her old high school teacher after not seeing him for like 40 years. Who stays in touch with a teacher after graduation, let alone four decades later? Come on.

As much as I love the show, the writers definitely weren’t that creative and reused that formula a little too often. Every other episode is basically the same plotline: some random person visits one of the women. This definitely felt unrealistic to me, because in real life, having some acquaintance from decades ago suddenly show up for a visit would most likely never happen.

Sydney and Cooper

They were kind of hinting that Cooper’s into Sydney and honestly, it doesn’t fit at all to me. What do you think?

When Cooper first joined the show, I always got the impression that he might end up being interested in Maggie later on.

Why do you like The Golden Girls?

I recently realized that the main reason I like The Golden Girls isn’t actually the humor. I think it’s a funny show, but there are other sitcoms that make me laugh a lot more. A lot of the comedy comes from sarcastic exchanges, especially when Rose says something silly and Dorothy or Sophia replies with a sarcastic remark.

What really keeps me coming back is the atmosphere. I absolutely love the 80s Miami vibe, the pastel colors, the house, the tropical setting, and the overall aesthetic. It has such a unique charm. Maybe some of you know these TikTok clips that show nostalgic images of the US in the 80s with smooth saxophone music playing in the background, that’s exactly the vibe The Golden Girls give me.

Does anyone feel the same way? Why do you like it?
