How did Maggie get an annulment?

Here are the grounds for annulment in the US:

* bigamy (being married to someone else)

* incest (discovering you’re related by blood)

* fraud (such as lying about the ability to have children

* ulterior motives for a green card)

* duress/coercion

* mental incapacity, or impotence

Which reason do we think she used?

can’t they just focus on the campground?

I don’t really like the Cal-Maggie lovestory. I know it’s based on a novel that I haven’t seen yet, but I prefer seeing campground stories over this no chemistry lovestory.

This season was the worst yet

Maggie, what can I say. The entire season was her with a blank expressionless lost puppy pout and quiet, meek voice. Girl needed some serious caffeine and a personality reboot.

Sully's absence was glaring.

The only interesting couple and storyline was Frank and Edna, and both were relegated to third-tier status.

The Liam "twist" was vomitously bad and drawn out 6 episodes too long. How many times was he called a "war correspondent" (or Amir a "gourmet chef."). Like we couldn't remember the last 5 times you told us their professions??

The whole season was like the worst episodes of "Days of Our Lives."

No one ever gives ACTUAL advice 😂

I know many of us “hate watch” this show. The thing that’s currently tickling me the most is that the characters rarely give each other any substantial advice.. it’s just a bunch of different versions of “it’s up to you” but they make it seem so profound and helpful 😭

No investigation?

So Maggie’s new husband drops out of sight on assignment and her first thought is, I wasn’t adventurous enough he left me. Wah wah insert Debby Downer.

No calls to his employer, American Embassy in whatever country he was in, US Mil or War Department, Secretary of State?
No ‘oh no he was in a dangerous war torn country I wonder if he’s ok!’

She just goes straight to annulling the marriage.

What???!!

Zero chemistry

The romantic tension between Maggie and Cal on Sullivan’s Crossing has all the warmth of an arctic blizzard.
They have the absolute sub-zero chemistry of two polite strangers sharing a quiet elevator ride. Every time they share a "longing" look, it just feels like bad acting

Back for another season of hate watching

This show is so bad. And yet here I am, hate watching another season lol. One thing I noticed that is really bugging me are the emotions are so performative and they are in every scene. They run the range from zero to sixty without any real development. What I Don’t understand is how Virgin River is so good and this is just so bad. It just feels like an after school special.

Is there any point in continuing??

Hey guys so I adore Virgin River and came over for this show and I legit had to stop 5 episodes in. It's just not quality!!! Does it get any better?

Am I the only one who actually likes this show?

Before I came onto the sub I genuinely did... Now the writing choices in S4 leave a lot to be desired But actually think Chad Michael Murray, Maggie's actress, and Scott Patterson in the previous season all did a good job with their acting. Imo, Maggie seems to have few facial expressions because she is used to everything being controlled and she tries to be measured and analytical in her actions (until this last season that is).

As far as everyone else, it's no different than the wooden acting on shows like Virgin River, I would argue less bad. Which that show to me reads even hokier than this show. Characters making pointless chit chat, and sitting down to a meal or drink only to leave it untouched sitting on the counter 5 minutes later

Sydney and Cooper

They were kind of hinting that Cooper’s into Sydney and honestly, it doesn’t fit at all to me. What do you think?

When Cooper first joined the show, I always got the impression that he might end up being interested in Maggie later on.

Those damn boots…

Can we please get cal some normal shoes? He is a lawyer from new York why that hell does he have slim cut jeans and some damn timberlands on… they don’t match the outfit and they don’t match his vibe. Feels like he is so city he is forcing himself to look woodsy. Perhaps a slim hiking shoe/boot or a clean looking casual tennis shoe ?? Like anything would be better at this point. I’d rather see him in flip flops and jeans honestly. Not only is the whole show hallmark bad but the boots are just the cherry on top for me. It’s like everyone else has someone dressing them and he’s left to just find something in the back of the wardrobe trailer

Cal’s father and the trope of never apologizing

We just got season 3-4 where I live so I am late to the party, but the episodes of Cal’s father and his cancer has truly pissed me off. Here we go again, a mentally ill person not taking his meds and ruining the lives of his 4 kids, especially the oldest one, but downplaying the whole experience and putting the blame on the kid for not letting it go and forgiving. How ABOUT TAKING ACCOUNTABILITY AND APOLOGIZING? The mother is playing the victim, even tho she is at least a little understanding, but why did she had 4 kids with a man with schizophrenia?? And I’m supposed to care that he is dying? Just stop, stop blaming the kids for not forgiving/not showing up when the parents can’t do the bare fckin minimum of admitting their wrongdoing and apologize.

Amir is a classic abuser type

So in general this show does some problematic things but ep 4 of this season with the introduction of Amir is actually astonishing. He is a classic abuser - narcissistic, keeps pushing and doesn’t take no for an answer, lies, manipulative to keep Syd from speaking out. And what’s worse is that I have a feeling the writers are writing this into a love arc. It’s disgusting.

Edna's Earrings

They are like Maggie's forehead. They keep getting bigger and bigger. I appreciate the Native American jewelry, but I wonder how big those earrings will be next season.

Where’s Lola?

She was in the first episode or 2 of the season but then she disappeared. I expected her to pop back in here and there..but nope. Any ideas what happened there?!

Tracy

Did I miss something? Why exactly does that little brat keep blaming Maggie for Ben getting arrested?? Maggie didn’t call the police, so how was that Maggie's fault?? The hospital called Dr. Carlsen, and he was the one who told them the two had run away. But she’s not mad at him, only at Maggie? I don't get it.

I HATE that she is going to be in season 5! I like this show because it’s comforting and and wholesome, but with such an obnoxious brat around, it just becomes annoying!
