Sonata, Slynd, and Fibroids

So last year I went in to the emergency room for pain that I thought was a heart attack. It was actually blood clots in my lungs from Xulane birth control patch and my beta Thalassemia minor. Needed a blood transfusion, also had the flu -scary stuff. This was February 2025.

Fast forward to June 2025 I have this unexplained ovarian pain for 2 days that is crippling. Go to the ED and am told I have two large masses one in my uterus and one branching off my uterus into my abdomen that will require surgery. I believe this was a CT scan. A MRI is ordered too last minute before my August 2025 procedure and there are no appointments within 50 miles. So no MRI is done.

Surgery happens, they find out I have wayyyy more fibroids than 2 (no number given, and no MRI remember so surprise), but they removed more than anticipated, not all. This took me from what they thought would not even taken a hour maybe 2 to a 6 hour surgery.

Over this last year I've also iron infusions, had an allergic reaction to the first iron they gave me so I needed one that requires 5 sessions each time. Did that before surgery, after surgery, earlier 2026 and more recently in May 2026.

They then finally conclude I'm bleeding too much on my period hence why my numbers keep dipping. But of course what do they recommend- more birth control. Slynd to be exact.

I started this Slynd April 8 and have NOT. STOPPED. BLEEDING. Ironically while waiting for my OB in office I notice a posting for a incisionless procedure called Sonata for fibroid shrinking that apparently stops heavy bleeding with over 90 % success rate . I take a picture and start my birth control. Directive is to skip the placebos and continue on the progesterone only daily.

Well now that the bleeding has progressed from brownish/red idk "skin cells" form like day 2 to full fledge bleeding, wearing a pad 24/7, only time I stop bleeding is in the middle of the night when i am laying down. I am so frustrated that the same thing that should help is making me bleed more. Clots and all. I just want to be done.

I see this Sonata procedure is not recommended for women who want future pregnancies. I'm 33, divorced, I have an 18 yo daughter and 9 yo son and I always had hope for one more. Freezing my eggs is not an option ATP. Not to mention to tbh I love sex with my partners (we are in a poly relationship) and to be out of commission for so long has been depressing. I hope someone can relate, i know pain during sex is a big symptom for fibroid and endo girlies, but that was never my experience. Sex is such a stress reliver and intimacy is for us above and beyond penetration but DAMN! The girls that get it, get it.

I am awaiting my OBs feedback, the nurse already mentioned an IUD and after this shit I'm just like hell no. and i feel greedy af ALL THE TIME too. I lost weight and now I'm gaining weight.

If you got this far in my rant, what would you do? I think I need an MRI to see what the hell is even going on inside me number one. Two this Sonata procedure has some research data on women who went on to get pregnant after the procedure and none seemed to have had ay adverse effects but there is no research specific to future moms yet. and Slynd I just want to be done with atp, but maybe you'll have stories about on day 61 to be exact the bleeding stopped haha (I hope). Thank you in advance
