Memory Issues

I’m having a really hard time with my memory issues. I don’t know for sure if I’m in perimenopause or if it’s just a random occurrence that I’ve been dealing with peri symptoms for the last few years, which seem to have increased this last year (daily migraines, depression, sweating all the time, and memory issues). I’ve treated the migraines and depression with meds from my doctors.

But the memory loss is really starting to get to me, and it feels like it’s getting worse. How do you all cope?

I’m in the process of getting bloodwork done to check my hormone levels and see if this is peri. I’m only 34, so I know it’s on the younger side. I’m worried this might be something else, but I had an MRI done because of the onset of daily migraines several years ago, which is when the memory issues started. I chalked it up to being in constant pain with migraines, but with the med I’m on for the migraines, they’ve mostly gone away/way less frequent. But I’m still dealing with memory issues that seem to have gotten worse. Just feeling fed up and defeated right now.

Has anyone gone back to handwritten weekly reading responses?

I’m thinking about experimenting with this in one of my classes this next semester. Each student would have a composition notebook and they’d write their weekly reading responses in it and turn it in each week.

For students who need accommodations, I’ll have them use google docs so I can see the version history and writing process.

A big part of this is AI. I'm so sick and tired of reading AI slop. I know having them do out of class writing on paper won't stop them from just copying AI into a notebook. But I'm hoping it will at least give them pause?

Has anyone tried something like this? How did it work? Any issues I’m not thinking about?
