In the Polish military, as an honorary distinction, besides medals and insignia, you can receive an honorary weapon. This may include a mace, a sabre (for the land and air force) or a broadsword (for the navy), or a ceremonial dagger.
Honorary weapons are granted for particularly brave or valorous deeds, for distinguished military service (especially to mark a service anniversary), as well as for graduating top of the class from a military academy.
Officers receive an honorary mace upon their promotion to general ranks.

Ceremonial unit of the Polish Border Guard

The parade uniform of the Polish Border Guard is very similar to that of the Land Forces. The main difference is a round peaked cap instead of the four-cornered one (rogatywka) and green piping on trousers and sleeves.

Something interesting for all three of you interested in Polish medals ;)

It's worth knowing that, according to Polish regulations, a set of ribbons and the full badge of the highest decoration are worn with the dress uniform.

The photo shows the Eastern Orthodox chaplain during the consecration ceremony of the brigade's colour. He is wearing a decoration very rarely seen with the uniform: the Decoration of Honor "Meritorious for Polish Culture", which he received for his civilian work in the protection of historical monuments. This decoration is also quite unique because it is suspended not on a ribbon, but on a clasp. It also lacks an official ribbon, so it is usually presented in the form of horizontal, white-and-red stripes.

Fun fact: title and decoration "Meritorious for Polish Culture" grants free entry to all public museum and galleries in Poland.

The second decoration is the Medal of Merit for the National Defense League. The badge of the Eastern Orthodox Prison Ministry is visible on the pocket.
