BS Biology graduate here. I'd like to ask if pursuing a research career in the Philippines is worth it in terms of job prospects. How difficult is it to land a research-related job? Do you usually need connections to get hired? I'm also curious about what the job market and career opportunities for researchers are actually like. I found that the medical school I was accepted into, and my only option, is not PAASCU-accredited and is not listed in WDOMS.
One of my long-term goals is to work as a doctor abroad, although I'm not targeting any specific country yet. Does this mean that option is basically off the table or are there still pathways available?
Hello. So nakapasa ako sa med school na inaplayan ko, and the next step is to just officially enroll. The problem is that I'm feeling hesitant and scared. Kasi when I think about committing the next several years of my life to medicine, I’m getting cold feet. Part of me still wants to pursue it, pero another part keeps wondering if I should consider veterinary medicine instead huhu
Parang mas excited pa ako when I think about practicing vet med. While I’ve always loved science and the study of medicine, I'm introverted by nature and tbh I feel more comfortable with animals than people haha.
Pero I’m also considering yung length of time it would take me to finish my studies. Taking vet med would mean committing to another six years of training on top of a gap year. And I’m also weighing practical factors like yung long-term career stability and the feasibility of working abroad. Siguro medicine offers a more straightforward path to these goals compared sa vet med but I’m not entirely sure kung true po.
