Feature Request: Apply Rules to Multiple Users and/or Multiple Devices

I recently got a Gold SE and have been loving the parental controls!

One thing I’d love to see is the ability to apply a rule to multiple Users or Devices at once.

I have a separate User for each of my kids, with their devices grouped under them. This works great since they each need different rules.

But sometimes I want the same rule for multiple kids, and right now I have to create that exact same rule for each one.

It would be nice if I could just select multiple Users or multiple devices under “Apply To” when making a rule.

That way, I could still have different rules for each kid, but also have shared rules that I only need to create and manage once.

I’m hoping this wouldn’t be too hard to add, since you can already apply one rule to multiple devices through a User. It seems like allowing multiple Users to be selected would be pretty similar.

Much appreciated!

Impact IQ - Semantic Link Labs Edition now retrofitted to support legacy non-PBIR Reports!

Impact IQ - Semantic Link Labs Edition now retrofitted to support legacy non-PBIR reports!

Impact IQ is a visual-level lineage and governance tool for Power BI/Fabric. It helps identify where fields, measures, and tables are used across reports, models, dataflows in all workspaces.

Background:

A current limitation with Semantic Link Labs is that report metadata extraction is built around PBIR reports.

That makes sense long term since PBIR is where things are headed. But right now, PBIR is still in preview and a lot of companies are still using the legacy report format.

Today:

After some late-night digging, I found a way to extract the same type of report metadata from legacy reports, so Impact IQ now supports both paths:

  • PBIR reports
  • Legacy non-PBIR reports

That means you can run a full-coverage, Fabric notebook-only version of Impact IQ without needing to convert every report to PBIR first.

I’m also planning to submit a PR back to the main Semantic Link Labs repo once I get it into the format the repo needs.

Note: Impact IQ is my personal project and is not associated with Microsoft. I’ve been building it for a few years, before joining Microsoft this year.
