Im dualbooting linux I started yesterday but ubuntu feels really slow even worse than windows, Im on performance mode but app launch is really slow. is ubuntu just bloated or is linux bad?

Im going to be dualbooting linux on a seperate usb stick. Im new to linux but Im good at tech stuff in general. Im gonna use linux for coding, cybersecurity and local ai hosting. Im keen on privacy but I think its more or less the same on all linux distros, correct me if Im wrong. Which linux distro should I use? also Im open to tips
