Hello,

all my life I've really wanted to learn a bowed string instrument and was wondering what would be the cheapest option in existence, excluding the cost of classes?

I really like the sound of erhu and found sone decent ones for 600 and I've heard electric violins and cellos are cheaper than their acoustic counterparts, but I'm also interested in lesser known stuff, whether it be ethnic instruments, experimental ones or anything DIY that you don't need a whole luthier's workshop to make.
