My brand new MK8.5 😍

Just got it about a month ago and it’s sitting at 1100kms. Been variably driving the car during this break in period. In total I’ve only done 4 strong pulls, obviously when the engine is at optimal temps. Man I’m enjoying this thing and I really can’t wait for the break in to end. It’s my first ever brand new car and I just hope I’m doing the break in correctly. South African roads also don’t make driving this car any easier 🥲, dodging potholes feels like an extreme sport 😂. Most times I either have it in Eco or Comfort and I’ve been driving the car normally whenever I do.

I’ve noticed that the car uses loads of fuel even when driving normally in Eco. My average consumption when in Eco or Comfort is between 10-11 ℓ/100km, when I do a small pull or drive a little faster the car goes up to 13-14 ℓ/100km. Is this normal or is the car doing this because it’s still in break in. I was expecting to get around 6-7 ℓ/100km

Any tips for me when it comes to these beautiful machines? I’ve just been daunted by the whole idea of break in, that I just don’t want to mess it up. I’m planning to take it for a break in oil change at 2000kms.
