Respect your stablehands
Maybe it's just my country and culture, but hello.
I am a stablehand, I feed, water, groom, and do all the general care for horses. I have, on many occasions, ran into people both irl and online who disregard my opinions on horse care as I am "not a real equestrian."
When I tell you your horse is obviously in pain from the but your using, I will get a "mind your own damn business." As if I am not trying to do my best by the horse.
If I call attention to the fact that the farrier hasn't been in half a year, I need you to take that seriously.
You may ride your horse every day, and I respect that. However, I expect respect back for caring for 10+ horses every day. I know these animals, too.
Listen to your stablehands, I sometimes notice things before you.
Can horse have oranges??
I have leftover oranges. I know six hungry horses. Can I?? It won't kill them, right?
Experiences with Horka?
On the market for new work boots, not riding boots. I dont have 300 dollars to spend, and I am wondering if anyone has had experiences with Horka?
Would you recommend thermal boots? Summer boots? Hybrid? I'm not looking for anything too specific, just good boots for the mud and muck every day. Thanks.
More old horse
She was eating her SlobberTM because her teeth are lacking. Also called the Gruel, the Slop, or the Soup. (Technically, she's a pony, not a horse)
Another Weevil Class
Welcome to another Weevil Class, where I share a weevil.
This is a Wheat Weevil or Granary Weevil, who obviously is found in and near grain crops and storage areas.
These little guys live everywhere there is grain yield, which is the whole world. They do not live in "the wild," relying solely on human grain production.
They are small, about 0.2 inches long. However, size varies based on what grain their egg was laid in. If they were laid in a smaller grain, smaller weevil.
There are both males and females of the species, leading to sexual reproduction. Females are the ones who lay the eggs.
The egg is deposited into one single grain, and there will only be one egg per grain. The female will poke a hole into the grain, plop in her egg, and seal it back up with natural secretions.
Females can tell which grains have already been "egged" by other females, which means they are even more efficient at decimating grain storages.
Egg becomes larvae, and larvae will eat the inside of the grain they have been put in by their mom, this is their food during their first stage of life, until they can pop free from the harder outer shell of said grain.
They will gradually become a full adult of their species, going from a white color to red/brown. They do not have flight capabilities.
This has been another Weevil Class.
She's still a little skinny, but she is becoming a chubbier self every month. She has colicked 7 times and is still standing. Granny Aquilla.
