4 weeks

Well, I really thought I’d be more mobile by now than I currently am. Ive been working on walking for a week now (with crutches) but can’t seem to get it right. My knee swells quite a bit after walking and gives me discomfort. I’m icing and elevating but any activity (even no resistance biking) causes it to swell. I tried putting on a compression sleeve and had to remove it immediately because it was causing sharp pains in my incision scar.

Am curious to know what other folks have been doing for their exercises at 4 weeks? I’m mostly doing quad sets, heel slides, tke, slr and cycling. The weight gain is making me sad.

Weight bearing

I’m wondering what everyone’s experience is with transitioning from NWB to WBAT.

How many weeks were you NWB and at what point did you start putting weight on the surgical leg? When you were given the green light for WBAT were you still using crutches? Did you have to keep the brace locked at full extension? At what point did you ditch the crutches and brace?

When were you able to walk without the brace or crutch? TIA!

Day 5 Post op

If there’s any advice I can give anyone before getting this surgery, try your best to get your body as strong as possible. Flexibility is also important. The number of single leg squats, single leg hops I’ve had to do just simply to get to the bathroom, shower or get up and down the stairs is exhausting. Then anytime I’m trying to put my brace on and off, turn on my ice machine, grab anything I need required single leg rdl or simply just the ability to reach past my toes.

Overall, I think I’m doing better. Haven’t needed the oxy since day 3. I’ve been trying to do my pt exercises and really struggling with heel slides. Cpm at 80 now for about 3-4 hours a day. Started light compression on my Nice1 machine and currently icing about 6 times a day. My appetite is definitely back now and I’m trying to be mindful of the excessive carbs. Still can’t seem to get some of that residual iodine off my skin as well as my surgeon’s autograph. My body hurts from being in bed/sitting around all the time. Trying to catch up on shows (watching For All Mankind) and do some light reading. I’m really really looking forward to being able to put full weight on my legs. My hands and wrists are tired from the crutches and walker!

Day 2 Post op

Hi all, I’m day 2 from having 2 cartiheal Agili-c implants in my knee. First day out wasn’t too bad, was partial weight bearing and that made a huge difference in how independent I could be. Used a walker to get around the house although my hands are starting to hurt from putting so much weight on them. Managed to use my Nice1 ice machine 5x and spent an hour on the CPM getting to 40. That was a little painful on my incision but I got used to it after 5 minutes. I’m a little worried it’s stretching my incision or something.

Day 2 my pain definitely spiked. I got overly confident in how good I was feeling and only took Tylenol yesterday. Today I am dealing with the consequences! Most of my pain is from the incision and not the inside of my knee. Going to be spending a lot of time icing. I was told not to do compression yet.

Did any of you wear a compression sleeve? I attempted to get one on but it was pulling in my incision and hurting so I took it off.

Will try to update my progress as there’s really not much out there!
