I think it would be fun if the creators who hang out here did AMAs, answering questions as if they were their leading character (or any of their characters really).

I’m no longer a member of the long hair club but thank you for keeping me entertained and informed during my short stay!
After 20 years of short hair, I decided to grow it out and donate it in memory of a family member who passed away.
I grew it out from 2022-last week, getting trims 2-3x per year.
I tried stuff to speed up growth:
Biotin supplements
Scalp massage
Rosemary essential oil
But it consistently grew a half inch per month whether I did anything or not.
Wash routine:
Every 4 days. Over the last 4 years I used probably 4 different shampoos. Everything from Dollar General’s finest to some French brand I got from a beauty influencer.
The only difference I could tell was clarifying shampoo made my scalp too dry in the winter so I switched to a sea salt and bergamot gloss shampoo.
Conditioner was nothing special. Mostly $8 bottles from Walmart.
A lot of hair came out in the shower the last 2 years and then it just stopped falling out the last 5 months before cutting it. No idea why.
I used Not Your Mother’s curl defining cream and I could tell it made a difference. I used a spray detangler/conditioner a few times per week. My hair is wavy and was always tangled.
No heat tools (except the 1 time I got a blowout) mostly air-drying but sometimes I used a warm or cool blow dryer in winter.
I slept in a satin bonnet every night, kept it braided or in a claw clip a lot.
My takeaways from my brief stay in Long Hair Land:
Long, thick, healthy hair is gorgeous
It is also a lot of work
Beware: everything looks easy on YouTube. It is not.
Those big barrel brushes are not for beginners.
Tiny rubber bands don’t come out without a fight
I felt like a beautiful, magical mermaid with long hair, but now that it’s cut, I feel nothing but relief! It feels good to have my short hair back! And I hope my hair will help another redhead feel like herself again after hair loss.
