Raising price for a long term student

Been teaching this guy for over two years - by far my longest term student. Sometimes he really gets on my nerves with his attitude, politics and general personality lol but the classes are so easy (apart from the irritation, and to clarify, I have this feeling with zero other students) and he's very regular and flexible.

My price for new students is now twice what he is paying, and I'm thinking of raising his price by 50%. I've been umm-ing and aah-ing for months about this, but now he's literally taking up space that I could be earning double with. Kinda hate myself for that attitude but gotta be real. He's from a """"""""dEveLopINg cOunTrY""""""""" but recently was telling me all about how he owns two properties and is looking to invest in another in western europe. Lol. I don't think I will ever be able to buy a property ever in my life. So it makes me feel less guilty.

I'm basically looking for tips and affirmation, or whatever anyone has to hit me with. Thanks in advance.

student wants one, max two classes

They've been very polite and explained they have an interview on Monday - but they will have maybe only one class, potentially two. I literally can't do that for free - but how do i go about explaining that to them/will it be bad for my metrics to cancel a trial? Halppp thanks

Student’s hours reducing?

I have a new student who, granted, I struggle a little with but I think we have potential. I saw he cancelled couple of his last classes of the pack, mid June, and didn’t reschedule, so I was going to ask if he wanted to reschedule and advise him some weeks I would be busy. However i then saw his hours on the package had reduced from 12 to 9.5? I know students can transfer hours to another tutor but this doesn’t make sense… maybe he tried… 2.5 lessons with someone else? is that even possible? or I guess he could have bought four lessons from them if their rate is much less than mine? I know I like to shop around as a student too, but I guess it made me a little curious and insecure ha ha :(:

how often do you take your money out?

I kinda like letting it accumulate but then is it risky?? Any advice on good practice with experience welcome!

Edit: if there are any reasons why, that would be great, too

I've had some ups and downs on the platform, but in the last months have really really studied and figured out how to (maybe) make it work, made my profile excellent, pay attention to my stats etc and things seem to be going well. I'm feeling positive, finally, but have this nagging paranoia that it's all just going to fall to shit again. I think I have tactics in place, like dropping my rate for summer if I need to, and I know roughly how it seems to work now but I'm just scared that things are going to dry up and I'll have to start from scratch again.

SO - I feel I need some success stories and tips... to keep positive but also savvy. Anyone been on the platform for years and ridden these waves out successfully? Please share and keep a sister sane : ))))))
