solo/sólo placement

Hii, I have recently started learning Spanish on my own. I am very much at the start of my journey right now, and I have some resources but I am also trying to learn sentence structures, grammar, and vocabulary by writing on my own and trying to compare with some notes and examples whether it seems to be correct.

Now, as you can see in the title, my problem is with the word sólo or solo. The sentence I am trying to write is “Mary can only speak french.”

Would I be using solo or sólo in that sentence? And where would I put it?

Mary habla sólo/solo francés.

or

Mary sólo/solo habla francés.

What benefits do you get from learning Spanish when you don’t have consistent opportunities to use it?

Help remind me the benefits of learning the spanish language please. I feel like im learning spanish without much practical benefits. I spend around 1 hour per day learning by myself, and When i started years ago I was dating someone who spoke spanish and worked in the service industry. Now im married with kids, nobody in my family speaks it, not much time either. I have always felt awkward using it with random people who already know english. I guess i can continue to study a lone and have occasional opportunities to use it with people whenever possible. Just feels like im questioning if this endeavor is still worth it and need to know what keeps people interested when they don’t have opportunities anymore. Thanks

How to ask what city?

Is it suitable to ask "cuál ciudad?" when asking for clarification about which city somebody visited while abroad, for example, or which city in a country somebody is from? This question comes up a lot but nearly every time the person I'm talking to asks me to repeat myself, and appears somehow caught off guard by the question in general.

Falta vs Carencia

Hey! im looking for fluent speakers or someone who knows more than me, to help with the difference in these to words. Ive been looking at word reference and other sources but what i get is very vague and still idk when to use which one.

Apparently falta is more for every day situations, and carencia is like a fancy version for medical fields or smth? i dont know. Well what i really want to know is if i were to be writting about lack of jobs, money or culture in my exams which would be more suitable. or do both work interchangably?

!!Gracias!!

How would I say I have something in my notes?

I've decided to start a notebook for Spanish, and I'd like to know how to say something like 'Hold on, I have this written in my notes' or 'Let me check my notes'. Thank you.

Are the preterito anterior, subjuntivo futuro simple and subjuntivo futuro compuesto still in use?

I was just going over all the times spanish has (quite a lot haha). But some don't really seem to appear. So I was wondering do you come across these? Which tiempos are not really worth learning anymore?
