My 10 game fully Metroidvania steam-summer-sale haul + stats

This is the first time I've REALLY participated in a steam sale, in the past I've bought maybe 2-3 games at most, but this time around I did loads of searching for games, and I had an accumulated wish-list. I (for the most part) only brought the super-cheap games on my wish-list.

I've nearly finished Rusted Moss, and it's been pretty great, but it has some missed potential. (Looks like Iron Bramble will be a more realised iteration)

I've played the first couple hours of Grime, Aeterna Noctis, and DragonLoop (which is the game I'm playing now), and all those games seem pretty good.

I'm about a bit over half way through tunic and it's been amazing.

Total price: £45.2 (I split TUNIC with a friend)

Average price: £4.52

Estimated total playtime*: 201

Pound to playtime ratio: 1 pound to 4.4 hours

*According to HowLongToBeat's 'Main + Sides' stat, but it's probably too low for my pace, as evidenced by Rusted Moss and Tunic.

Thanks for reading. I'd be happy to receive any recommendations to add to my wish-list (Besides what's listed here, I've played HK and SK, Nine Sols, Ender Lilies, Haiku). I'm also curious as to what y'all got in the sale.

Mac performance stuff:

>!I thought I ought to write down how I'm getting on with performance, incase there's any other mac users here who could find this info useful.!<

>!My mac is a 16gb ram M1 MacBook air, which is ~2 years old. I'm running most games via crossover.!<

>!Native, at 60 fps: Dandara, Axiom verge, TUNIC. I had to lower tunics settings a bit for TUNIC but it's been smooth sailing.!<

>!Crossover, with DXMT and MSync: Rusted Moss, Vernal edge, and DragonLoop are all running smoothly at 60 fps, Bloodstained and Afterimage are both running smoothly at 60 fps after lowering graphics a bit, And GRIME is running at 60 fps, but I had to significantly lower graphics (low on everything + 1440x810).!<

I didn't like Ender Lilies, do y'all think I'll like Magnolia?

Hey.

As the title says, Ender Lilies was not for me, but I've heard Magnolia is a significant improvement, so perhaps I'd like it? Heres some points I disliked about Lilies:

  • Very par for the course abilities
  • What felt to me like artificial difficulty with the absurd late-game damage
  • Yet still the game felt somewhat easy and not very challenging despite that annoying damage
  • Unrewarding rewards
  • Rather than small areas/subregions being ability gated, its mostly those insignificant rewards, which I heavily dislike
  • Due to the fact it was mostly only minor rewards being ability gated, I had no motivation to backtrack and redeem those rewards
  • The game felt so linear

Does Ender Magnolia improve on these points enough that it'd probably be enjoyable enough for me? And if not, any other suggestions on what I could get? (I've played HK, Silksong, Nine sols, Ender Lilies, and Haiku the robot.)

Thanks in advance.

I also wrote a review, so if you want a more in-depth explanation of what I disliked, its here.
