The brutal truth about NMIMS attendance (Yes, it's actually that strict)

A lot of freshers have been asking about the attendance scene at NMIMS, and I need to be completely straight with you—it is incredibly strict. You need exactly 80% by hook or by crook, and there is absolutely zero room for negotiation. Forget about getting leaves approved for family functions, and honestly, getting a sick leave approved is near impossible unless you are literally on your deathbed. They don't care if you end up at 75% or if you have a genuine excuse; they will not adjust it. If you are even one single lecture short of that 80% mark, you simply won't be allowed to sit for your exams.

Because they are this ruthless, you have to calculate your safety margin from day one. You need to figure out exactly how many classes you can afford to miss per subject in a semester. For example, a 4-credit course usually has 60 lectures, meaning you have to attend 48 and can only miss 12. For a 2-credit course with 30 lectures, you can only afford to miss 6. Keep these exact numbers in your head from the very start of the semester and track every single miss, otherwise you are going to get into serious trouble at the end of the term.

Don't fall for this fake FOMO scam by PG brokers

This is exactly what I was talking about in my last post. Take a look at the attached screenshot from a page called commmun.mumbai. They post stories claiming "2 beds left" or "last day to book online" and say Juhu will look like a fish market tomorrow. This is textbook fake scarcity designed to create massive FOMO, especially for outstation students who don't know the ground reality of Mumbai. If you aren't in the city yet, seeing this makes you panic and think you'll be left homeless, pushing you to blindly transfer a booking amount without even seeing the place.

Please do not fall for this trap. The inventory data is completely manipulated just to pressure you into paying a non-refundable deposit for a place that might turn out to be absolute trash. There are always accommodations available, so don't let a fake countdown dictate your living situation for the next year. Wait until you get here, physically visit the PGs, and don't book in a hurry. We really need to boycott agencies like this that use these predatory tactics to scam anxious freshers. Stay safe, be smart, and protect your money!

🚨 Mumbai PG Scams Exposed: The Ugly Truth About Fake Reviews & How to Actually Find a Good Room Near Campus 🚨

I got this post written by AI so that it's easier for you to read.

Listen up, incoming first-years. If you are looking for a PG near NMIMS right now, please read this before you drop lakhs of your parents' hard-earned money.

I made a massive mistake in my first year by trying to cut costs and booking a PG online without visiting it. I completely relied on fake online reviews and photos that looked nothing like reality. I ended up living in an absolute nightmare, and I want to make sure none of you fall for the same trap.

Here is exactly how the scam works, my specific experience with the worst PGs out there, and how you can protect yourself.

🗑️ PGs to AVOID At All Costs

  1. Bostels: If you see an ad for a PG called Bostels, run in the opposite direction. It is run by Sanjay Ashok Yadav, who is a massive fraud. Here is the reality of what they offer versus what they charge (an insane 4.9L for triple sharing and 6.1L for double sharing):

Zero Cleanliness & Fake Photos: The pictures online are a complete lie. The place was incredibly dirty, and there was absolutely zero cleaning or housekeeping done for about 6 months.

The "Food" Situation: The food was absolute trash, and I honestly don't even know where he sourced it from. There were days with zero information on whether we were even getting a meal. Timings were a joke—dinner would randomly show up at 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM, or 10:00 PM.

The Maggi Incident: On one occasion, instead of an actual lunch, we were just handed a raw packet of Maggi. The best part? The induction stove was broken, and there was no LPG cylinder. Were we supposed to eat it raw?

Zero Security: Security is non-existent. Random people could legitimately just walk into the PG at 3:00 AM without anyone stopping them.

Terrible Management: The owner is incredibly rude once he has your money. And on top of providing this pathetic level of service, he had the audacity to quote even higher new prices.

  1. Safe Student Housing: This is the second worst PG on the list after Bostels, so avoid this one as well.

  2. Aurus: Do not bother with this one either, it is absolutely nothing like what they advertise.

🛡️ How to Avoid PG Scams in Mumbai

Brokers and PG owners prey on out-of-town students who are panicking about finding accommodation. Here is your survival guide:

NEVER Book Blindly Online: Pictures lie. Reviews can be bought. Never transfer a booking amount without seeing the property with your own eyes, talking to the owner, and speaking with the students living there.

Taste the Food: Don't just look at the menu on a piece of paper. Ask to taste a meal before committing to a year-long contract.

Ignore the "FOMO" Marketing: Owners will constantly pressure you by saying, "10 beds left, 2 beds left". It is just a cheap marketing tactic to make you panic-pay.

Don't Cheap Out in Year One: I made the mistake of cost-cutting in my first year, and it ruined my peace of mind, so you shouldn't do it either. Get a safe, reliable place first. From your second year onwards, once you know the area and have a solid group of friends, you can choose what actually suits you.

✅ Genuine Recommendations

If you are looking for reliable places, here is what actually works based on reality:

For Boys:

Student Housing is one of the most trusted options with good, affordable buildings (check out Bharat, Moti Mehal, and Ganga Niwas). I have personally booked Student Housing for my second year.

For Girls:

Check out Rising Star in Juhu, which is a highly recommended location that is literally a 5-minute walk to every college. Ivy League is another good option to enquire about. Student Housing also provides good and safer options for girls.

Premium Option: If you have a higher budget, Youthville is a solid premium choice.

Don't let these scammy owners ruin your first-year college experience. Be smart, visit the places, and talk to the seniors! Feel free to DM me if you need proof of the poor maintenance and 3rd-class food at Bostels.

Edit:-

I will be very blunt guys but the fomo thing happened because of "The commun" ig y'all must know it, it is a insta page by Kanak murarka, she regularly posted things like 10 beds left, 2 beds left, so I thought there will be very less chances of me getting a pg near clg, but upon reaching there I saw that all beds were unsold and good options were easily available
