Late night events or places that are open late from Tuesday ~ Thursday (6p and later)

I'm checking to see if people know of any late night events that happen in Long Beach between Tuesday ~ Thursday.

Originally, I was gonna just ask for Belmont Shores and 4th St., but I'm open to ideas if anyone has any to share.

DJs that repair gear: can you shed any advice before I get started?

I'm not an electrician, nor am I any type of specialist when it comes repairing DJ gear. I've just tinkered with cars and computers all my life, doing my own fixes and maintenance. I feel like I want to move on to DJ gear.

My soldering experience is not the best, but this is also my attempt to get better. I've changed out a few USB B ports, after being given all sorts of formerly broken gear hand-me-downs from friends. But I also suck at soldering, haha!

Lately, I've been gaining interesting in buying dirt cheap DJ gear and fixing it up, notably audio interfaces, controllers, mixers, and CDJs (I'm not interested in turntables). I've also gained a lot of inspiration following YouTubers that do these repairs.

I know finding parts could be questionable as older or dirt cheap gear is most likely unsupported by the manufacturer, but fortunately, some aftermarket parts are universal or easy to swap out: capacitors, ribbon cables, button switches, resoldering, replacing faders, and etc.

Folks that do these types of fixes: what's some general advice you can share before I consider this endeavor? Are you satisfied with these types of projects? Do you encounter more or less success rates?

MIDI Controller platter units: What other options exist?

There aren't too many of them these days, and I've seen some back when controllers were starting; when DJ controllers were still innovative and new.

Aside from CDJs from various brands and alike, I'm seeking and compiling a list of "MIDI Controllers platters" with some features to control the deck.

I'm thinking of putting together a portable deck, when I jump onto peoples equipment last minute. Especially small and light equipment.

For example:

Denon DN-MC2000: https://www.ecosia.org/images?addon=firefox&addonversion=6.4.0&q=denon%20sc2000

Behringer CMD PL1: https://www.ecosia.org/images?addon=firefox&addonversion=6.4.0&q=Behringer+CMD+PL1

A&H Xone 1D and 2D: https://www.ecosia.org/images?addon=firefox&addonversion=6.4.0&q=xone+1d+2d

DJ-Tech Mouse: https://www.ecosia.org/images?addon=firefox&addonversion=6.4.0&q=DJ-tech+mouse

I almost included the DJ-Tech USolo, but that's just a media player with no USB connection to a laptop.

Am I missing any others?

Goals for 2026: more mice!

(I'm not the original video creator, and I'm aware of the DJ-Tech mouse. I just stumbled upon this funny random video.)

I love the small footprint of Mini PCs. They save so much space compared to ATX, Micro-ATX, and mini-itx, and etc.

I've bought a handful of HP Elite 705 mini PCs, mainly ones with 2200G and 2400GE CPUs. I tend to lean towards Ryzen CPUs because I like the power of Vega GPUs, like Vega 8 or 11. Plus I got these dirt cheap.

I don't care to play Modern AAA titles when there's so many older games out there ( games from 2010s and below, retro gaming, and etc.).

I know Ryzen mini desktops have gotten more powerful with their 4th~6th gen processors, but they're not in my price range (yet).

I haven't toyed around with any Intel products since Ryzen, but how do Intel Mini PCs compare to the likes of Ryzen ones? Like the Intel N-series, or others Intel ones? Is AMD still on top?

Sometimes when I'm at gigs, and I'm the next DJ to take over, it helps to count the BPM.

I know I can do the "counting" method by counting the number of beats within a few seconds of a clock or watch, but it's not the most accurate method.

Is there a Linux tool I can use on a laptop that allows me to tap in the BPM?
