Ringer Tailgate Success Came At The Right Time
It's kind of crazy the confluence of events that led to this:
- Bill in the early stages of his re-apex
- Russillo leaving the Ringer and a bunch of other personnel changes
- Tate had OSP rug pulled for multiple reasons I imagine but a lot of the pods were starting to pivot to video
- Joel joins the Ringer like a year prior and I hadn't really seen him on other pods as much
- Van was already all over the Ringer podcasts but he never really got to flex sports with his true passion being college football
- College football has never been crazier in the offseason with the NIL/Transfer portal and the fact that The Ringer had never tried a college football podcast was crazy
- Billy Gil comes in late
Let's fast forward to now:
- This might be Bill's most successful non-Bill sports podcast launch when it's all said and done
- Tate found a new gold mine hosting this and I love OSP... but this has a chance to be bigger. He looks like he is having the best time hosting and cracking jokes
- These guys are getting budget to go on the road and film content, bring on guests, etc
- Joel has become an MVP and has really been additive to not only Tailgate but Press Box as well
- Billy x Joel x Tate x Van is pairing is like lightning in a bottle marvel casting level good
