I would love a German input

I came to Germany about 6 years ago. I am a german, but raised in another country. Prior to that I worked in tourism for almost 10 years. I have a degree in the same area. When I came to Germany, I had to pivot because I didn’t speak the language yet, so I started working in sales for English-speaking roles here. During this time, I studied German and got a B2 certificate. Now, because I spend my day speaking English, I can get a bit insecure with my German-speaking skills, although I am pretty much able to have conversations and get understood most of the times. What are struggle with are language capacities that you only master by practicing the spoken language a lot.

I am thinking about going back to tourism and applying to work in travel agencies. But I would love your input:

  1. If you were a manager and someone with my profile showed up in your agency, would you consider me for a customer facing role?

  2. If you area container, would you be ok with a sales person with a broken German?

I don’t want sentimentalism, I know most of you will be kind, but I want your real take on that. I am super nervous to go door to door and get judged. But maybe, if it’s not as a big deal as I am making it to be, I will ease my mind. Or, maybe, I will just realize that I am not ready.

Thank you!

Back to square one

I am a female, moved to Germany 6 years, and had to reinvent myself. I worked in tourism for almost 10 years prior to coming to Germany. When I came here, I had to pivot because I didn’t speak the language. I started working in sales at companies that required English-speaking sales people. I grew pretty fast. I landed a role as Head Of BDM for an SaaS company. Thing is, I burned out and didn’t adapt to the culture in Germany. Again, I pivoted, I decided to start my own business. I was providing dfy lead generation services for coaches, consultants and other entrepreneurs. It was really good, until I decided to go bigger, so I could hire more. I started selling sales implementation services for B2B businesses and last year I closed 20k for a six-month contract. So, I started the year focusing on this niche. I was feeling confident and good that things would just go up from there. January came by, zero clients. February, zero. March, one small sale that couldn’t barely cover the monthly costs. April, I had to fire a team member. Now, I am desperately trying to find a job. Applied to hundreds of jobs, and no one has called for an interview. I am so deeply afraid. Feeling like a fraud. Feeling that I am 36 and back to square one. I don’t know what is happening. I had close to 20 sales calls this year, I couldn’t close a single client. I am so deeply depressed, I have a hard time managing the clients I have left. I don’t have the energy for anything… I feel everything was just a luck. I shoot myself on the foot my getting out of the job market. Honestly, I don’t know why I am writing this here. I just don’t have anyone to talk to… this month is my last month of income…. I don’t know what to do.
