Shoe Recommendation Help

I am looking to upgrade from my New Balance 608v5 trainers. I love the physical dimensions and underfoot geometry of the 608v5, but I need something lighter and more breathable (no heavy leather).

I tried HOKA Bondi 9, and my knees are in pain. My feet wobble trying to find stability using Hoka Bondi 9.

Here are my exact requirements:

  • Size/Fit: 4E Extra Wide. I need a wide toe box and high overall instep/midfoot volume.
  • Heel Stack Height: Around 31mm to 33mm.
  • Heel-to-Toe Drop: Right around 10mm
  • Cushioning: Firm, stable, or responsive. I want a supportive feel underfoot, not a super mushy, max-plush, or ultra-squishy foam that sinks in.
  • Weight: Lightweight (breathable engineered mesh/knit style uppers).

I appreciate any recommendations.

Shoe recommendations: Knee pain

Hello, I’ve been wearing the Hoka Bondi 9 and have started experiencing inflammation and pain under my kneecap, which I suspect may be related to the shoe’s high stack height.

I also have an under-toe callus, so I need a good amount of cushioning and support — but now I’m second-guessing whether maximal cushioning shoes are actually making things worse for my knees.

A few questions for the community:

•	Has anyone else experienced knee issues with the Hoka Bondi 9 specifically?

• Is the high stack height a known contributor to knee pain?
• Would something like the Brooks Adrenaline be a better alternative, or does its stack height and bulk present similar issues?
• Any other shoe recommendations that balance cushioning with knee-friendliness?

I’d love to hear from runners or walkers who have navigated similar issues.

Thanks in advance!

Summit STEM Fellowship Program

Hello, I am writing to the group to see if anyone has experience with or reviews of the Summit STEM Fellowship program. I am considering this program for a rising freshman and wanted to see if it would be a useful addition to his profile as he prepares for high school.

I haven't been able to find many reviews online, so I would appreciate any personal insights you might have. The program mentions receiving 4,500 applications internationally and is fee-based, so I want to ensure it is a worthwhile investment before moving forward.

Thank you in advance for your help and feedback.
