Compressor rapidly turning on and off
All, experienced what I thought was a bad capacitor again(last one was replaced two years ago, similar symptoms), compressor fan running no cool air coming out of vents. HVAC company came out confirmed capacitor was fine, noticed a bad contact and replaced that and then also discovered a bad relay on one of the boards. when they came out to replace the board the unit clicked on and off several times then ran fine for 5 days.
this morning i woke up and the same issue was present. called the hvac company and the on call tech suggested power cycling at the breaker and then putting it back on ‘cool’. i did that and captured the attached video. about 45 second into the video is when it starts clicking and finally stops moving. while it was running the wife confirmed cold air was coming out of the vents.
one odd thing i noticed was that when it originally happened and i turned the thermostat off it jumped to and has stayed at 74 degrees.
could a bad thermostat be the cause of this? the company is coming back out Monday and i’m just trying to get some opinions on what anyone might think is causing this or if they have seen this before.
