Thinking about a scanner for hobby car work, but confused on what to buy.

Thinking about a scanner for hobby car work, but confused on what to buy.

Over the last year or so I've been learning cad, CNC plasma cutting, etc. I do a lot of custom work on my cars and friends cars and I've considered getting a scanner. My use case/scenario is the following -

Engine bay/subframe/engine fitment. I'd like to use it for getting more accurate measurements of engines/engine bays for when I make motor mounts.

Rear subframe/wheel well suspension. Same as above. I'd like to be able to scan suspension pieces as well as subframes/partial vehicle undersides for designing custom arms etc.

Maybe some interior work for developing custom pieces for dashboards etc.

The PC I'll be using has an i5 14600k as well as 32gb of memory and a 5060ti (16gb version). Unfortunately the ram situation isn't cheaply upgraded as it's an ITX motherboard so I only have two ram slots.

I understand that scanning items does not give me an actual STL. I'm mainly wanting to use this to take better measurements, and if I need to recreate something for printing/casting/etc etc I understand it takes a lot of post processing work.

The main scanners I was looking at were the Einstar 2 or the Rockit, Creality Raptor Pro, or the Metro Y Pro. Ideally I'd like to stick to the 1k mark but it seems like maybe I need to spend a little more for a better scanner.

Any input is appreciated. I've read through this sub for a few hours and I'm still having trouble understanding which scanner is the best as far as the size/distance of the things I'd like to scan. I'm not too concerned about high resolution scans. Just making sure I get accurate, usable scans. I am not a professional shop, so if processing times/scan times end up taking more time it's not a big deal.

Thank you!

One year of YouTube. What are the best practices for increasing viewer retention?

Howdy all. I've given my YouTube channel a fair amount of attention over the last year. I definitely could have put in more effort but since life often gets in the way sometimes it just wasn't possible. Here are my current stats -

953 subscribers

56.5k views

3615 watch hours

16 videos

I run an automotive YouTube channel that mostly centers around one specific car, although sometimes I sprinkle in content about other cars/projects. I seem to get decent views on **most** videos (normally at least 1000) but my viewer retention absolutely sucks. My long form content averages between 15-25 minutes and my average view duration is only four and a half minutes.

Are my videos just boring? Too long? I've been trying to figure out how to fix this as it's a pretty big metric for YouTube. My editing is not plain but I also stay far away from the stereotypical editing that is on YouTube as I find it extremely corny.

Going forward I'd really love to increase my retention so I'll take any tips you guys have.

Today marks one year since I uploaded my first video. My stats are decent, but my viewer retention sucks.

Completed my self made Q50 air to air conversion

For those who haven't seen my car before, this is a manual swapped Q50 with a G35 subframe. The last thing on my list for major modifications was to convert from A2W intercoolers to an A2A setup.

This was all self made (well, with the exception of the intercooler) and it was my first big aluminum welding project.

My intake temps dropped pretty dramatically. I made a video showing the process as well as the difference in air temps, if anyone is interested.

I just found this place.

Didn't realize there was a breakfast good sub, but I guess it makes sense.

Anyway, eggs.
