Marlon drumming. tDB are still fun.
I have been a fan of the Biscuits since 2011. I absolutely fell in love with the band and how unique they were and the segue jams that melted songs together. I feel their ability to segue from one song to another is absolutely unmatched. I didn't realize how much Allen defined their sound until later though. Diving back into how sammy sounded vs allen. He really defined what I liked about their sound in 2007-2009. And then 2016-2019. And I miss allen alot. It wasn't until I saw the band play with marlon until I realized how much allen made their jams straight dance music. And also allen was just super fucking tight always. Hes a goddamn machine. These days Im only able to see them once or twice a year. Saw them with marlon in atlanta and honestly, if barber is on point, the show will be good. And the band seemed to really be enjoying themselves. Granted, the sound of the jams were definitely different. Allen was straight four on the floor untz. I really like the untz. That's what I want. But while at that show I realized that barber, Marc and Aaron want to change their sound. They want to veer away from the straight heavy untz jams. There was 2 or 3 times during that show where I thought to myself "man, allen would have really made that so much more dirty, and he could have really carried that in a different direction". But again, I think the band truly wanted a more well rounded sound. I think they like veering away from straigh untz jams. I didn't really like that idea at first, but again, the band had a blast, I had a blast and still danced my ass off. The band is different, and marlons drumming doesn't necessarily allow for super deep deep "biscuit jams" the way I like them, but again, they wanna go for a different sound i feel.
Give them time, the core 3 still know how to party.
