CrossPDF released: EPUB-style PDF reading
Hi everyone,
I’ve released CrossPDF, a fork of CrossInk that adds on-device PDF reflow for Xteink readers.
Instead of displaying a complete PDF page scaled down to the small screen, CrossPDF extracts the reading content and sends it through the existing EPUB reader. You can use the device’s normal font, text size, spacing, margins, page turns, bookmarks, clippings, and reading progress.
Everything happens directly on the reader. There is no desktop conversion, upload service, or duplicate converted book to manage. Copy a PDF to the SD card and open it. The first opening prepares reusable reading data, while later openings use the cached version.
The current release includes:
- On-device PDF reflow
- Device fonts and reading settings
- Chapters and table of contents
- Internal links and page labels
- Bookmarks and clippings
- Word-based reading progress
- Supported images
- Tiny and XLarge firmware builds
CrossPDF is based on the original open-source CrossInk firmware. The PDF work is intended primarily for readable, text-based documents, so feedback on unusual or complex PDFs is especially useful.
