Shaolin Soccer's ending hits so hard

Shaolin Soccer's ending hits so hard

You feel the brothers pain, all those years wasted learning Kung Fu only for it to be deemed useless in society and becoming trash collectors, dishwashers etc. When Sing recruits them, they realize there's no other way out but with each other.

They succeed, and Kung Fu is restored to its glory in a new form, in daily life, sports, and for us, in cinema.

It's partly why I could never rank KFH above SS, I'm too sentimental about this.

The badass of Ghost Server/Shadow

From A Man Called Hero.

No arms, fights with kicks and his goddamn pigtail, wears a mask and the other characters barely know what he's saying. A force for good and fiercely loyal. I needed more Ghost Server in the movie.

Wholesome news: there is no beef between Jackie and Ken Lo

Ken was interviewed on a Chinese Tiktok video lately and said that he hated Jackie when they were making DM2, because of the awful training he had to put himself through as a last minute stand-in.

This was used as the thumbnail for several outlets as "Ken Lo hates Jackie Chan" and the comments were full of people hating on Jackie for the widely held belief that he fired Ken when he was going through divorce.

In the end, he says it was a mutual agreement because Jackie wanted to take him to the mainland, but he had to stay to take care of his kids. Even back in 2017 I found him repeating the same thing, that they remained good friends and are in contact regularly.

He constantly addresses him as "big brother" and expressed admiration for him doing the coal scene, which required several takes and burned his hands bad.

I'm aware of his flaws but it is totally not cool that after nearly two decades, tabloids are still using Ken as the poster boy for Jackie hate.

Fun fact: Jackie had Ken study Michael Jackson's rhythm and footwork as well, and it shows!

For us, there's only the Liu Kang Vs Kung Lao fight that lives up to standards. The rest are simply a cut below - less speed, complexity, fluidity etc.

I've never seen the first film, how did it survive without Karl Urban stitching the fights together to form a semi coherent plot? Without him, Kano, and Kitana, the movie would be devoid of any charm.

Street Fighter risks being the same, things are not looking good for fighting games carrying the mantle for martial arts films in Hollywood.
