Do you like training a new dishwasher?

Today I had to train a new dishwasher. He said something like, “Oh, this looks so easy, I can do that.” He was super confident, so I explained how the machine works, what to do, and what not to do.

But after that? All of a sudden, his confidence disappeared and the dishes started stacking up like a mountain. I had to come over and help him. Honestly, he wasn't even that bad for a first day. He just looked miserable and couldn't handle the pressure because we were running out of dishes, and the chefs kept yelling at me, “Bring the dishes!!”

In the end, he said he couldn’t do it anymore, which is okay I understand. I wonder if we’ll ever get more dishwashers. Every confident guy comes here and leaves looking miserable.

Do you smile when you’re busy?

I’ve been doing this job for almost two months now and I think I’m doing okay. I’ve never been late, I always cover shifts when someone’s off, and I’ve done extra work when it gets really busy, like during the holidays.

Today was probably the busiest day since Easter. I don’t want to come across as cocky I’m really trying my best but some chefs seem to think I’m too intimidating? I wash everything that comes from the kitchen except knives. Honestly, I feel like I’m starting to lose it or getting too negative.

The work is already exhausting, and on top of that, the people can be pretty rough to deal with too…
