American alcohol

Just a random question but even if this tariff deal is cancelled or paused and they put American alcohol back on the shelf, is anyone going to buy it? I like bourbon but I’ve found Canadian alternative whiskeys now so I really don’t think putting American alcohol back on the shelf is going to change my buying habits

Folklorama

Hey, this may be a popular view point or may not. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy folklorama it’s one of my favourite events of the year. But I just want to know why the city doesn’t seem to want to support this?

For context I am originally from Saskatoon SK (I know right?) anyway we have folk fest there and it is so much fun. You buy a “passport” for like 50-60$ and that gives you access to all the pavilions for the week. You can go once you can go 20 times it’s all good. The shows are more continuous and held on a come and go type basis so there’s always a show happening and you don’t have to sit you can look at the stuff, watch the show eat the food and drinks and kinda stroll it makes for a fun evening . The one thing Saskatoon does though is they have bus service to all the pavilions and so you can just one the blue line and it follows a route and you can hit 3-5 pavilions on it, then there are other routes that do other pavilions and they all kinda intersect. That’s the thing I miss the most, I miss jumping on a bus and not having to fight traffic and find parking etc just dedicated buses available for the event all week long and made things really great, jump on and off wherever never had to be in one place for a specific show because the show was always happening. I just think that model was so much better then this one.

Like I said some may like it this way and that’s great I’m just giving my opinion

To whom ever takes over tavern united space in DT

Please I beg you, please make this a Mexican restaurant, authentic Mexican cuisine is the thing I feel is most sought after that we just don’t have here and I feel like that place would be packed every jets game or event it is such a huge opportunity. I know we have La Roca but that’s not the vibe that’s more a club with Mexican theme. I want good Mexican food

How hard would it be?

So how hard would it be to legislate that the total cost of something is on the sticker? All the taxes and fees everything right there. I get not including it is a sales tactic to make things seem cheaper in the isle but they do it all over Europe they include taxes on the stickers so why not here? Not just Manitoba, or Winnipeg or whatever but let’s just have what something costs in total on the sticker

What proper wrestling match would you like to see

So the mask v mask match was just fantastic we all agree right? What other proper matches would people like to see? I feel like a solid Finn Balor (not the demon) v cody Rhodes would be good. That hasn’t happened in over 3 years. Bronson reed v oba femi would be good to watch when ever he’s back penta v nakamura. I’m not talking gimmick type stuff I just wanna see a solid 25 minute wrestling match. I know wwe doesn’t do wrestling matches anymore but there is really good depth in the roster that is just not living up to its potential

Ratification vote

Good morning brothers/sisters

I’m a Canadian member local 254. We recently had a ratification vote and thankfully it was 85% voted down by members.

Back story: we’ve been watching the non union market, lots of shops are offering the same benefit package we get, RRSP Match which I know is not the same as our pension but it’s also not terrible. We’ve been watching the non union rate go up 45,47, 49, 52$ per hour there just aren’t enough guys up here so wages at non union shops are actually quite respectable. Lots of these shop are also now offering paid vacation time, earned days off, sick days, company bbq etc. there are a lot of benefits to these shops.

We had a ratification vote and our elected officials presented us with the following.

5% Premium for A gas fitters (which is so low because we don’t have many in this province)

3% raise this year 1.5% for the next 3 years and some clarification on some of the clauses where they struck out over time on Saturday/double time on Sunday just to make the stat holiday clause more clear. That’s it, that’s all we got. Inflation in my province was the highest in Canada at 4.5% year over year so the raise we got doesn’t even cover the rise in cost of living.

We had submitted the paid sick days, and benefits other shop seem to be getting in non union and 3 different issues we got the response “it was tabled and removed “ like they didn’t even fight for anything and just told us this is the best we could get. It’s not even what non union is giving. Further more our province just announced that all govt projects will go to union companies (not sure the legality of it or how it’s negotiated- that’s above my pay grade)

Anyway I guess what I am asking is how is everyone else doing in this process? Is our committee a lame duck or do you think 7.5% over 4 years is fair given the current state of the world?

A not our pension did rise but only by like .35 cents or something like that.

Have good one brothers!

Edit: just so everyone knows with the 3% we go up to 47.20$ non union paying 49-52$
