Description:
Flyway is a daily map game about birds. Each day you get five North American birds, starting with a widespread one and ending with one that has a small range. For each bird you see a photo and its name, and you drop a pin on the map where you think it is this month. If the pin is inside the bird's range you get 1,000 points. If it is outside, you score less the farther away it is. Then the game draws the range, and you can drag through all twelve months to see how it moves over the year.
The ranges change month by month, so the same bird has a different answer in January than in July. They are drawn from eBird sightings, an open dataset of what birders report.
Everyone gets the same five birds each day, and it takes about two minutes. There is an archive of past days, and an Unlimited mode that gives you one random bird after another: https://flyway.gg/unlimited?from=playmygame
You don't need to know birds to play, but it helps!
