did you notice..

in the earlier books, i think till PoA, Rowling used these phrases to a massive extent, most often spoken by the trio:

"....they would, wouldn't they?"

"...they did, didn't they?"

"....it is, isn't it?"

"....he would, wouldn't he?"

they irritated me so much that I even started predicting that this sentence will end like this and it always actually did. however, she stopped using these after PoA or atleast toned them down a bit so they weren't that noticeable. by the end of the book 7, i think i hardly saw these again.

Tess of the d'Urbervilles

okay so i started reading ToTD a few days ago and this is not my first Hardy (suprisingly). I read prior to this: Far From The Madding Crowd (which i loved, slight nod to my username) and The Mayor of Casterbridge (which i also loved) and i fell more in love with Hardy's writing. I have another Hardy waiting to be read; A Pair of Blue Eyes. I'm only 120 something pages in the novel and i'm absolutely loving it and also scared to read further because i spoiled myself not some time ago so i know what happens at the end but i don't know how and why it happens. i'm anxious to finish it and also feel like leaving it here only when things are not too bad but still so good.
What i realized upon reading this one is that, while i was reading Hardy's not so popular books and still loving them, he is famous for ToTD for a reason. i cannot get this thought out of my head. the writing is absolutely beautiful and the minor romance going on in the middle of the book is one of the best pining/longing/yearning stratagem i have seen. and i am just flabbergasted to read such beautiful writing in such a sad story, i almost want to throw the damn book out on the street. i am looking forward to the tragic sobfest i have unknowingly (yet knowingly) enlisted myself for. wish me luck!

looking for a fanfic i read years ago but can't remember its name

Looking for a pre-2020 AO3 Marauders fic. Canon-compliant, Hogwarts era, Sirius-heavy POV, significant Black family/Regulus focus, covered the Marauders becoming Animagi and the Whomping Willow prank. Sirius had a female Hogwarts love interest (possibly a Ravenclaw, maybe an OC named Alyssa/Allison/Alicia or similar). No Wolfstar. I vaguely remember the title being something like "The Marauder's Kiss."
