Blinkit Refunds as Expiring Promo Codes- possible CPA Dark Patterns and Consumer Right Protection Act Violation. Check if you have a case.

If you opted for refund as promo coupon and they didn't tell you it will expire. Your refund money is now theirs and you should get it back.

  • Chose a wrong address, paid for it via UPI and cancelled it.
  • Opened their agent chat proceeded with cancellation and was offered refund as promo code that could be used for future orders
  • I clicked proceed
  • The expiration condition was revealed to me AFTER taking my consent
  • I wasn't offered any way to rescind my consent under these new terms
  • the coupon expired ( it didnt show up as blinkit money/coupons/prompt during checkout, this promo code was hidden inside their chat with all the other chats so you have to scroll a lot to find it for a last minute app but I am not even going there)
  • I chatted with the AI agent, then a real agent, then mailed them. They insisted that I was already informed about expiration and usage details. ( I was told after and then given no way to refuse these conditions)
  • I filed a complain with NCH, I got the same canned reply

Where things are now

  • I have now filed grievance with Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances for the review of NCH grievance closure based on disputed and apparently incorrect factual findings regarding Blinkit refund.

My point is that their T&C clearly states

refunds shall be processed in the same manner as they are received or provided (unless mutually agreed)

only COD can be refunded as promo codes with an expiry, UPI payments CAN BE refunded but the user has to OPT-IN

so basically they are telling me that they said

your refund will be issued as a promotional code which will expire in 30 days. Would you like to proceed?

What they actually said

Your refund will be issued as a promotional code, would you like to proceed? okay now you have said yes you also have to use it in 30 days, too bad you cant opt out now.

Blinkit refunding UPI payments as Promo Codes with a hidden Expiry Condition.

  • Chose a wrong address, paid for it via UPI and cancelled it.
  • Opened their agent chat proceeded with cancellation and was offered refund as promo code that could be used for future orders
  • I clicked proceed
  • The material expiration condition was revealed to me AFTER taking my consent

I am preemptive in my asking that if i get the same outcome here (because it's a private company and my grievance is indirect) what are my next legal steps.

I am livid that they closed my grievance giving a factual assertion that directly contradicts the evidence that I provided. The refund was converted into an expiring promotional instrument only after my consent was obtained, without disclosure of the material expiry condition at the point of consent. I was therefore not given an informed choice regarding the condition attached to the refund.

these are the official refund & return policy last updated in Feb 2026

>Unless otherwise stated and/or as mutually agreed between Blinkit and the Customer, for payments made through electronic means such as debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, etc., refunds shall be processed in the same manner as they are received or provided in the form of credit/ cashback/ coupon/ promotional code which shall be available for use against a subsequent invoice for transactions on the Blinkit Platform, in accordance with the specified terms, if any, such as validity period. Refund amount in the form of credits will reflect in Your account based on respective banks policies.

>Provided that, refunds, if any, for products purchased on cash on delivery basis shall be refunded by way of promotional codes only which shall expire after 30 days from the date of issuance.

>Users can opt-in for a promotional code refund for online payments as well. Refunds cannot be transferred back to any other payment method once the credit/ cashback/ coupon/ promotional code is initiated. All other promotional codes issued shall expire within 7 days from the date of its issuance.

P.S: I am not active on SM, but I made a twitter account for this and found out that this is a very common issue and blinkit hasnt made any changes to their T&C or their AI agent consent flow. All complainants have the same issue, their consent to the conversion of money into a time-limited credit was obtained BEFORE the material condition governing that credit was even disclosed.

I mean clearly the difference between

Your refund will be issued as a promotional code, would you like to proceed vs your refund will be issued as a promotional code which will expire in 30 days. Would you like to proceed?

is relevant!!??
