Blinkit sold me a “Driver Free” Wi-Fi adapter that actually needs a driver- now nobody wants to take responsibility
I’m posting this because I genuinely feel cheated and helpless as a consumer, and I want to know if others have experienced something similar with Blinkit.
I ordered a UNIGEN 600 Mbps USB Wi-Fi Adapter from Blinkit. I specifically chose it because it was advertised as plug-and-play / driver-free.
There’s another important part: I primarily use Linux, not Windows. The whole reason I specifically looked for a driver-free / plug-and-play Wi-Fi adapter was so I could use it without having to deal with proprietary Windows drivers or software.
But after receiving it, I found that the adapter required driver/software installation before I could use it on my Windows PC.
What makes this especially frustrating is that the actual product packaging itself says “Driver Free Installation.” I have photos of the packaging and the product.
I immediately contacted Blinkit — within roughly one hour of delivery.
I explained the issue, provided photographs/videos of the product and packaging, and asked for a refund. I don't want a replacement because I don't want another unit of the same product. I bought it based on the advertised/represented feature.
But Blinkit's support response was essentially:
Contact the brand.
I explained repeatedly that this isn't a warranty or repair issue. My complaint is about the product being represented as driver-free while my actual experience was that it required driver/software installation.
The support executive continued giving me the same response and eventually provided UNIGEN's phone number and email.
So I contacted UNIGEN.
I've called multiple times. No one is answering.
I also emailed them. No response.
Now I'm stuck between the seller/platform and the manufacturer:
Blinkit: “Contact the brand.”
Brand: No response.
And I'm the consumer who has already paid for the product.
For me, this is even more frustrating because I use Linux. If the listing had clearly said that a Windows driver/software installation was required, I simply wouldn't have bought this adapter.
I'm not saying that Linux compatibility alone makes a product defective. My issue is that I specifically purchased it because it was represented as driver-free / plug-and-play, and that representation was important to my purchase decision.
If a product actually requires a particular driver/software setup, that should be clearly disclosed to consumers.
I'm not posting this just because of the price of one Wi-Fi adapter. The bigger question is:
Who is responsible when a product sold through an e-commerce platform doesn't match the way it is represented?
If a platform can sell a product based on certain features, shouldn't there be some responsibility when the consumer immediately reports that those features don't match reality?
And if the answer is always “contact the manufacturer,” then what exactly is the consumer supposed to do when the manufacturer doesn't respond?

Blinkit team — please look into this
If someone from Blinkit's customer experience, escalation, or grievance team is monitoring this subreddit, please review Order ID ORD30155483496 and the complete support conversation.
I am not asking for special treatment. I reported the issue almost immediately after delivery, provided the requested evidence, contacted the manufacturer as instructed, and still haven't received a response from the manufacturer.
I would genuinely appreciate it if someone responsible from Blinkit could actually review the evidence and help resolve the refund request instead of simply redirecting me back to a manufacturer that isn't responding.
I'm happy to provide additional information privately if required.
I'd genuinely like to hear from other Blinkit customers
Have you experienced something similar?
Did Blinkit refuse a refund and send you directly to the manufacturer?
Have you received a product that didn't match its listing/advertised specifications?
What happened when you escalated it?
Did Blinkit eventually resolve it?
Have you had similar problems with electronics ordered through quick-commerce platforms?
Please share your experiences below. If this is happening to other consumers too, I'd rather understand how widespread the problem is than treat this as just my individual issue.
And Blinkit, if you're seeing this: I'm not asking for special treatment. I'm asking for someone to actually review the evidence and address the refund request instead of repeatedly redirecting me to a manufacturer that isn't responding.
