Mac cyberdeck finally done

Heyyy wanted to share that I finally got my CNC shell for my Apple M1 cyberdeck with meshtastic and touch screen :) Original modified battery, and lots of extra cooling for extra performance.
Edit: thanks for the love! I’m making a video series on my tiny YT channel “Caraful”

Mac cyberdeck

Hi! I shared my M1 mac cyberdeck here (based on a broken MacBook Air) and got some questions about the how. Especially regarding the battery, but the power button might be the biggest issue for people wanting to walk this path.

Here is my video process. Cheers!

Mac cyberdeck

Heyyaaaa, I can finally share it
Over the last 7 weeks I’ve been working on a cyberdeck based on a broken MacBook Air m1. It has a touchscreen, a vintage Apple keyboard, an eink secondary screen, a joystick, extra ports and meshtastic with gps. I modified the stock battery and retained the touchID and the trackpad, which is now in the back.
For now it’s in a glued together 3d printed shell but it’s gonna be CNC aluminium soon. Don’t tell me how much extra it cost to make the vents heart shaped 😬.
It’s just 1mm thicker than the donor MacBook at the thickest point.
I decided to go with Mac OS because I need some proprietary apps and the battery life and performance vs price ratio is pretty good on those older Apple silicon units.

I published the first part of the video and the second part where you can see it coming together is coming soon.
