[CA] [SFH] landlord said they received a letter form homeowner association about my window AC unit
I’m panicking because my room would be like 95 F during the day in summer and I get worried about my cat when I leave him to go to work. I don’t want him to have heat stroke or die. I also don’t function well in extreme heat. I can’t get anything done like that.
I used to use a portable AC but it made electric bill go up like an extra $200 so my landlord doesn’t let me. This window AC is sooooo much cheaper to run 24/7. And it no doesn’t present any danger because it is U shape design. There is no central AC(landlord says t will cost $8000 to fix so they’re not doing it).The landlord is family so I don’t want to cause them issues either. I have had my AC for over a year already and it’s dramatically improved my life and I’m surprised they barely noticed.
Can I fight this at all? What are my options? Should I ask to submit an application? Is there a way to prolong this to more than 15 days that way I at least have time to move after the summer that’s coming?
