Random tips for people going to the major [PART 2]

Ganymede partnered with some shops around the arena, where you might be able to get food for a little bit cheaper it seems

> They've also partnered with nearby commercial facilities to offer discounts on food and drinks to those who show their tickets.

According to the website of the venue, there is no smoking room IN the venue, you'll have to go outside (it might be raining this WE) for that, that holds true for normal cigarette or vaping or heated tabacco.

For those who already have their tickets, they have a plan for the seats that I joined to this post, I think the stage is on the right (at least that's the era that's named "EVENT SPACE" in other plans), you can match where your seat is.

Interview with the CEO of Ganymede about hosting OWCC in Japan

> The venue is Arena Tachikawa Tachihi. What were the reasons for selecting it?

> Nishihara: We considered various options, but Blizzard had a strong request that the first event in Japan be held in Tokyo. However, many event venues in Tokyo are booked up for about two years in advance. So, we looked at venues that were available on the dates, and made a comprehensive judgment based on size, accessibility, and other factors, and decided on Arena Tachikawa Tachihi.

> —The Arena Tachikawa Tachihi has a capacity of about 3,000 people, so it feels a bit small.

You're telling me we could have had better if Blizz didn't push for tokyo ? :(

Random tips for people going to the major

Few tips for those who comes from abroad who might need them (not sure how many people that is), lots of them or common sense and shared with other countries, but just in case it could help someone, here are my advices.

before the first day:

  • if you selected "Print at Seven-Eleven" for your tickets (I'm not sure if having the digital ticket was even an option for overseas visitor) the closest seven eleven is 1 station away from the venue. or the one closest to your hotel. in both case, I would advise to print the tickets the day before since there is a chance it will take times if other participant ends up in the same 7/11. 5-10min walk from the venue you'll have 2 7/11 (cf screenshot)

  • Buy a transport card (suica, pasmo) and charge it in advance (you should be able to get one at the airport usually). Tokyo made effort to be able to pay contactless with your credit card on your phone, but not sure if that reached that line yet or not, so might as well use the prepaid card (which you can also use to buy drinks at the vending machine)

Day of the event:

  • Door open at 10am, first match on friday is at 12pm. according to the website the event starts at 11am, so they might be referring to the opening ceremony, you might want to come early cause I'm pretty sure this is a sold out event (or close to).

  • For the merch, there is a queue system where you need to pick a ticket according to their website https://gnmd.com/en/news/event-info/1524/ so if you want to buy something, first thing is to get in.

  • Contrary to other countries, the last train might be earlier than what you are used to, please check the trip on you phone to your hotel to be sure you don't get stuck around the arena (especially if you have a connection, different line have different last train time). While I doubt that it will end up THAT late, there is definitely going to be a queue at the station to go back at the end of the day. you might want to spend time around in the meantime and lose track of the time.

  • EDIT: rules are not clear about reentry and bringing food, asking for confirmation. First match being at 12pm, you might want to buy stuff to eat before end (remember, no alcohol is allowed). For those who wants to have a proper lunch/dinner, there are restaurant in the shopping center across the venue (CF screenshot)

  • For people with camera (outside of smartphone), the rule says that camera with interchangeable lenses and/or camera with long focal length (my guess is > 85mm) are forbidden. not sure how strict are they going to be about that, but what is sure is, if you block the view of others by trying to take a picture at a certain angle during the match, you might be in for trouble). it is though forbidden to stream the event itself or making recording once inside the venue from what I remember (I'll invite you to go through the rules yourself if you intended to)

  • Cosplay photo: there is a cosplay changing room so I guess there might be some cosplayer, it is custom to ask for permission before taking pictures (at least if they are just walking by, and that's true even for non cosplayer), if there is a waiting line so that they take pictures 1:1 (1 model 1 photographer), wait in line (not sure how it's going to be), if it's guerilla like, follow the flow. But essentially the main rule is common decency. Also, don't stream in the bathroom (saying it, just in case).

Here you go, might have been useless for most people, but if that can help a few, there it is.

Info about the majors location

I'm currently at the venue for a content creator event. Just a few early feedback about it.

It definitely is/looks smaller than last year's champions clash. (Cf picture, second and third flow is mirrored on the left side)

Both teams on stage are facing the public.

There is no "pit" in front of the stage. So probably no room for the "cheering brigades" to stand in front of the stage.

For smokers, the only smoking room I saw was on the third floor (elevators were stopped, so get ready to take the stairs) and only allowed heated tobacco, normal cigarette smoker pure on your own it seems (also, it's usually not allowed to smoke randomly on the street)

Also added a seat plan for the first floor.

No idea if both second and third floor are in use for the major, or only the second.

Also, the seats row looks removable ? So who knows if the first floor will even be fully available. But if all seats are available and no standing area is reserved we have

1st floor 1008 seats 2nd floor 754 Seats 3rd floor 686 seats

BUT the plans on their website do not show the seats on the second and third floor facing the stage (over the streaming area) or if the third floor is even available. So who knows.

Note, the floor numbering in Japan starts at 1, not 0

Impossible anniversary challenge ?

So the current title Decennial hero is unlocked if we get 48 event challenges, yeaaaah, but if we count all 3 weeks, we only have 40 challenges ? (16 + 12 + 12).

Not only do we have to play OW classic (fuck me, I hate it even more than being forced on ranked with thrower), but even if we do, we can't get it ? am I missing something ?

OWCS Champions clash is on patch 2.1, but current version is 2.22.0.1 ?

So, in the viewers guide it says that the games will be played on patch 2.1

https://esports.overwatch.com/en-us/news/champions-clash-viewers-guide

But the current version number I see in game and in launcher ie 2.22.0.1 ?

Does anyone knows where I can find the patch number matching what they wrote ?

My guess is it's the current live version, but I have no proof of that :/ Does anyone knows ?
