Going to buy a Lumix GH7 - convince me otherwise

after much deliberation on a small form “cinema” camera at a more affordable price, I’ve settled on the Lumix GH7.

I really like the fact that we can shoot ProRes internally, I don’t really mind MFT sensors, I like that there is the Arri LogC3 add-on, its small like an FX3 and can be built out if necessary, and the rolling shutter readout pretty much seems to be fast enough for the resolutions I'll be shooting at.

Also its much more affordable. It goes for around $1800, even a used FX3 is still like $3.5-4k

Gonna be shooting an experimental documentary with it, and other small personal projects in the future. Nothing crazy. What do you think?

How Often Is Your Gear Hired?

Hey all! NYC Camera Assistant here. I work mainly in non-union commercials. Like many of you, I own a few pieces of gear (Monitors and Teradek mainly) that I used to get on pretty regularly, but its been absolutely dreadful recently. Productions basically getting an un-beatable rates from the rental house so that even if I price match it doesn’t matter to them because replacing their unit with mine would just cost more money. Owner ops who literally own every single piece of gear imaginable as well…

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? i also am pretty friendly too with negotiating about my gear and an happy to go lower than usual, but I’m just getting flat out denied left and right

I wanted to get my own focus unit next year but this truly has me second guessing that. Does not feel worth it.
