New TI Streaming: Community Games!

Hey everyone!

Tomorrow we're launching our new Twilight Imperium streaming channel with the first of our new Community Games.

Would love to have as many people chatting to us on stream and we also have a super cool overlay that could really change how you watch a TI game! (the video is just a taster!)

Sunday the 4th of October, 10am UK time

The Muaat Rebellion: 6 players, 10 points, 8-hour limit

Community Games are quarterly streamed show matches where we build a game around a particular theme, piece of lore or mechanical idea, then randomly select players from our community to take part.

For our first game, we're taking several connected pieces of TI lore and throwing them together into an alternate-history war.

The Sardakk offensive forces the Jol-Nar to deploy their experimental War Suns, giving the enslaved Gashlai their opportunity to rebel and become the Embers of Muaat. Meanwhile, the Naalu push their offensive around Lisis, drawing the Saar back towards a world of huge significance to their people, while the Deepwrought intervene over the Jol-Nar's increasingly dangerous approach to technology.

So tomorrow's table is:

Muaat | Jol-Nar | Sardakk | Naalu | Saar | Deepwrought

For a little background, we're the team behind the UK National Championship and London Maneuvering Jets, and I also host the Through the Wormhole TI podcast.

Thanks as well to everyone who engaged with my recent post about the podcast. The response was lovely, and hopefully we'll see some of you in the stream tomorrow!

A New Twilight Imperium Project. Looking to expand the community and get feedback.

Hi everyone!

I'm Joe (gs_healer on discord), one of the organisers behind the UK National Championship and London Maneuvering Jets. For the last few months I've also been working on a Twilight Imperium podcast called Through the Wormhole, and I thought it was finally time to share it with the wider TI community. The aim is to get some input, feedback and hopefully grow our community.

The podcast grew pretty naturally out of running events. We had all these great players, games and stories happening around us, and wanted somewhere to talk about them. The events create stories, and the podcast gives us a way to tell them.

Obviously, Space Cats Peace Turtles already produces an incredible amount of TI content, so we're not trying to recreate what they do. Instead, we've focused on giving the UK and European community a voice, particularly around players, tournaments and the growing competitive scene.

We've experimented quite a bit with the format so far. We've done champion interviews and tournament reviews, short & sharp strategy guides, wider discussions about the competitive scene, and some deliberately more chill episodes such as ‘Why do Novices Hate TI’.

It's been great seeing a little community start to develop around the podcast, but most of the people who've found us so far have come through our own events and Discord. I'd really like to hear from people outside that bubble.

Some highlight episodes you might be interested in:

  • Competitive Scene Summary - A round-up of major events happening around the world. We talk about UK and European tournaments and some even further afield!
  • How to Win a Twilight Imperium Tournament – Two time London champion, Walrusbeserker analyses all the drafts for our London Tournament. Even for those who didn't attend, it's an insight into how a champion looks at a game and strategises. Its also our most listened to episode.
  • Ru-haul, the UK National Champion– An interview with the UK National Champion on his tournament win and approach to the game. Focus on off table meta and his favourite faction Ral-Nel
  • Ral-Nel Degree– The intermediate strategy guide to Ral Nel
  • Why Novices Hate TI – More lighthearted chill episode where I talk to someone who doesn’t overly rate the game.

If any of that (or any of our wider catalogue) sounds interesting, I'd love for you to give it a listen. You can find Through the Wormhole on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and a bunch of other places. You can find out more info on our website or join the conversation on our discord.

The aim of this post is to hear from the wider TI community. What topics, guests or episode ideas would you like to see covered? I’m especially interested in topics we can uniquely cover that SCPT can not, that's why a lot of our content focuses on events happening here in the UK! I'd love this podcast to reflect the interests of the whole Twilight Imperium community, and not just my own little bubble.

Thanks for reading this far and genuinely interested in people’s views and would love to have you onboard to help shape the podcast and content!

3rd London Tournament - Concludes with Big Things Coming...

Last weekend we wrapped up London: Maneuvering Jets, a 36 player TI tournament with casual one-day tables too!

We had two epic days of gaming and crowned a new champion that goes by Samba. This was particularly shocking as it is the first time reigning champion Walrusbeserker had been defeated in London, having won the previous two tournaments.

We have an amazing community in the UK and had a massive waitlist as always and some incredible players flew in from Germany, Italy and other distant lands. You can review the event pictures here.

Our community has grown so much we have a podcast that reviews players, events, and strategy. It aims to be community focused rather than strategy focused so we have started a mini-series reviewing the event. But there is a back log that might interest you. Listen here.

Finally, we announced at the event that our UK National Championships will return in January. last year it was the worlds biggest in person TI event and its getting bigger! You also might have heard it mentioned on SCPT... more details coming soon! To stay in the loop feel free to join our UK discord.

Just wanted to post to say I am proud of all involved and what we have built in the UK, its always highly competitive, extremely fun and such a supportive community.
