What do you think about my setup?
Have been working on this room for a while now. Rearranged things today, made me feel like sharing 😛
EDIT: I appreciate the responses. I'll read everything and give good answers in time. 🤟
EDIT2: I wanted to show you a demo of the sound so here's a quick video: https://youtu.be/1lutiFKA4A0?is=nGvQlc4qMufuVeF0
EDIT3: The kit is a Yamaha Rydeen I bought from a friend back around when I was becoming a freshman in high school. The original set was an all in one entry level kit that came with cheap cymbals and all the hardware. I remember visiting him and trying it out, I was blown away like "this is how I want my drums to sound" it was better feeling and sounding than most of the things I had had a chance to try back then. I don't remember exactly when, but he quit drums and the kit sat unused, his parents sold it to us for super cheap, like 300$. I still use the kick and the toms, they've been through a lot but I think they still sound great for what they are.
I've built off of it from there. I've Been through a few sets of cymbals, the last set I bought were paiste 2002's, a friend suggested them, they have been trusty.
Bought a Gretsch Brooklyn Standard snare, sometimes I also use the Ludwig pictured here which was my first snare, still sounds great.
A few years ago I dumped a ton of money on music gear: dw3000 kick pedal, Iron Cobra hi hat stand, Gibraltar throne, the rug, the microphone stands, heads, sticks, tons of cables, lots of other useful gadgets and things.
I bought a Tascam Model 12 which can record multichannel to an SD card, I take that to my computer and run it through Ableton for projects. The Tascam doubles as a mixing console which I run the loudspeakers through. Those are EV ZLX's of some variety, they are very powerful. I also have a small subwoofer originally from a used electronic kit amp system I repurposed which works well with the system.
I've got my dads old record, CD and cassette players hooked up through the Tascam, phone hooks up to it Bluetooth, fun to jam with recordings and though we don't host parties often we're definitely set for one lol.
The space is a porch my dad designed and was building but sadly was not able to finish before he passed of cancer. I live with my mother at this house. We take care of each other. For the longest time the room was filled with crap we didn't know what to do with and garbage. You couldn't even walk through it, it was a total mess. I cleaned it out myself, ma has been kind enough to let me set up my music shit out there. I tried not to totally take over the space so that there's still a place there to read and watch the sunset, whatnot.
I've been practicing and recording stuff on my own here for nearly two years now, it's been great for that! Ambitions to make an album haven't taken off yet. I've been recording my practice sessions and occasionally making practice videos, nothing amazing so far but I've come along way with my knowledge and skill with the drums. I Have not had as many people over here to jam as I would like. We really haven't had many chances to have company over sadly but perhaps that will change eventually. Would love to have a party.
In a perfect timeline I would get better at networking with the local scene and help people record demo tapes maybe make a business of it assuming it all went well, really would just be fun to experiment and learn though. I've also thought about doing 1 on 1 lessons for people eventually. Maybe some day.
Hiking Photos From the year so Far in Maine
Long time computer gamer doing the best I can to get out of the house 💪
Pictures are hikes I did alone and with my mother and two dogs whom I live with this summer so far.
Trying to get healthier is definitely worth the struggles
